Review of Greenville, South Carolina

If You Have A Brain in Your Skull, Stay Away!!!

I am a New Hampshire native, unfortunately living in Greenville, South Carolina for the past ten years or so, and I still have not gotten used to it.

The city is too big, too many people, too much traffic, it's dirty, many parts of town are terrifyingly sketchy, the school are bad, with mostly knuckleheaded teachers who really don't care; I feel like I learned more in six years of New England elementary school than I did in seven years of schooling in this hell hole. The people may "seem" friendly, but you can tell they are really fake, and extremely judgmental and several are racist and/or sexist, they have no respect for personal space, and if you're not a hardcore, bible thumping christian, many of them will shun you or shove their beliefs down your throat. Yeah, housing and utilities are cheap, but you get what you pay for. Even the nice apartments are full of roaches and kids that have no proper upbringing, playing in the streets and shouting obscenities. It's way too damn hot, there's no snow, you can't see the stars at night since there's so much light and regular pollution, too many people around that have jobs who live on welfare and foodstamps but can afford to buy brand new Cadillacs and liquor and drugs....Speaking of which, about 90% of the population I've noticed use illegal drugs...Great!

Ugh, all in all I say this is a horrible place to live...The south in general is just terrible..
Can you tell I'm ready to go home?

Yeah, Greenville would do better without a Yankee like you. I live in Atlanta but have relatives in the Greenville area. It's a great little city that has been voted a great place to raise a family. I too am from the north but I never once thought about bringing a "northern or New Englander" attitude with me. That's one of the reasons I left! Go home Yankee - go home!
