Calhoun is a city of over 15,000 people located in the foothills of northwest Georgia. It is the county seat of Gordon County, and it lies approximately 45 miles south of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Calhoun has a rich history and culture, having been established in 1851 as a railway town by James Calhoun. The historic downtown area features many buildings from the late nineteenth century, including the Gordon County Courthouse which was built in 1860. Additionally, there are numerous parks, festivals, museums and other attractions spread throughout the city.
