Everyone is Hood Rich -
6/28/2007Atlanta itself is a beautiful city and there are many things to do.
BUT, the traffic is horrible. Public transportation through MARTA has not kept up with the population boom over the years. I spend at least 2 and a half hours out of my day stuck in traffic.
The people are really stuck up. Everyone believes they are "hood rich." The people here are arrogant, rude , and let the truth be told, they are broke. That is where the term "hood rich" comes into play. Everyone in ATL believe that they have money when they drive their new Lex around but still live pay check to pay check.
I think media and the hip hop community have glorified Atlanta to the extent that almost every college grad that comes to this city with high hopes, become frustrated and leave disappointed.
Housing prices continue to rise but are reasonable as compared to places like New York City and some neighborhoods are sketchy as crime continues to be a major problem for this city. Smog, smog, smog everywhere, with the heat, it is hard to breathe anymore and maybe that is the reason those here have bad allergies and other health issues.
We have all the major sports here but support only comes when a team wins. This is not a good pro sports town, but college and high school sports have a high interest.
ATL is what it is and I must say that being here for 6 years, I am ready to get out.

Nice Town But... -
6/28/2007The town must do something about the increase in gangs in town, this county, and in Durham. My child tells me that her high school has several gangs in there and that other local high schools also have seen an increase in gangs. There are black, white, Hispanic, Asian, and all girl gangs increasing all over town and making there way into the lives of residents here. Crime is on the increase and at times it does not feel as safe as it once was.
Also, there should be a little more control on those students from Carolina that love to urinate and abuse our property on Franklin Street on weekends and before and after football games. Police should crack down more on alcohol and drug use among those students and limit the hours that students can get drunk before they have football games on campus. Students need to respect the community more and business owners on Franklin Street more. Each year, you get these lude wannabe gangsters and more and more rude students with each freshman class. I hope they do not turn this town into a ghetto.
Other than these things, this is a nice place.
Wilson, NC
Wilson is a BORING DUMP -
6/28/2007The only good things about Wilson are, its closeness to bigger cities such as Greenville, about 25 minutes to the east, and Raleigh about 50 minutes to the west, Barton College, we are on I-95, and we have the original Parker's Barbecue. THOSE ARE THE ONLY GOOD THINGS ABOUT WILSON.
This city sucks when compared to Greenville and Raleigh, there is nothing to do here and to shop or eat out at a decent restaurant or just do something entertaining, you have to drive to Greenville or Raleigh.
Crime is really bad. Racial tension can at times be bad. The city is divided into a black section which is run down and poor and a white section which has large homes.
There are no high paying jobs here. Again, if you want something that pays, you have to drive to Greenville or Raleigh and at times driving to Raleigh can be a pain because of the traffic along 64 and 440.
Wilson is an arm pit of a city. Some people can't decide if we are in Eastern Carolina or in the Triangle though we are east of I-95, overall people are divided along college allegiance, UNC, ECU, NC State, and Duke and this carries over in to local politics and the reasons why we can't get our geographic location correct. I am looking to get out of here so if you want a better quality of life, head towards Greenville or Raleigh.
