I doubt the commenter I am replying to comes from Beverly Hills but if they do I would remind them that globally ranked, your metro area is 1 or 2 out on the planet for being the 'dirtiest'...meaning trash in the streets, on the sidewalks and along the roads and in general. Its a very trashy place, Southern California. The beaches are all polluted with toxic chemicals or algae blooms that render them horrible to swim in. The water and air quality from Southern California is consistently ranked the worse in the country. That being said most of what you have said is not true and sounds more like the ravings of a person who has issues beyond the scope of what this website is about.

But, in case you need them, St. Louis has several world class hospitals and mental health centers that are ranked at the top of most lists comparing health services globally. Many people actually go there from around the planet to receive treatment.

To the uninformed i.e. Eagle: Real Estate values in St. Louis metro are some of the best in the country. The real estate in California is extremely overpriced. You can purchase a home in the St. Louis Metro area for 225,000.00usd and the same home in California would cost you well over a million dollars. Of course you get the major pollution, carjackings and traffic jams with that million dollar home so I guess its worth it..right?

Culturally St. Louis has some of the top venues in the country, one of which is Powell Symphony Hall which houses the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra: the second oldest orchestra in the US. It also has Forest Park in downtown which is larger than Central Park and has a full golf course, a world class Zoo and science museum, a history museum and an art museum ALL OF WHICH ARE FREE TO THE PUBLIC! Not to mention the MUNY the oldest and largest outdoor musical theater in the country. There are tons of festivals throughout the spring summer and fall that include the St. Louis Mardi Gras parade and festival which is the third largest in the world after Rio and New Orleans. There is Oktoberfest in the fall and the VP Fair in the early summer. There are beer and wine tasting events and major cultural festivals held that pull from the cultural heritage of the large immigrant communities of French, Italian,Iraqi,Irish, German, Bosnian,Vietnamese,Chinese,Cambodian,Indian, Russian, Greek and African cultures. And we won't forget the Mexican and South American cultural festivals either. You said there was no culture? I think you are wrong!

The Missouri Botanical Garden has one of the largest collections of plant species in the world and has the largest authentic Japanese Tea garden outside of Japan. The largest Japanese outdoor festival is held there annually in the fall. Then there is the largest authentic Victorian Park in the United States at Tower Groves Park, this park is a National Historic Landmark and holds outdoor concerts for free in the spring summer and fall from choir groups to the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.

If you would like to see Chuck Berry perform live, he is the Godfather of Rock N Roll if you didn't know, you can catch him on rare occasion at a venue on Delmar Blvd. If blues or jazz is your scene there are several venues that host world class players..not to mention the blues and jazz festivals that happen during the year. If you like hip hop...there is tons of local talent displayed on weekends at various nightclubs too.

Culturally St. Louis has loads to offer...is seems.
If you wish to shop there are more than 8 huge malls which have hundreds each in them as well as whole streets dedicated to boutique shopping on them like Clayton Road, Grand Ave. Washington Ave, Main Street in St. Charles and the whole area of the Loop in University City and Central West End.

The night life in st. louis metro is vast: the area has the most sports bars in the country probably because of the rabid fans of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Rams and the Blues as well as all the college and high school level teams. There are piano bars and dives, comedy clubs as well as several upscale high nrg dance clubs. There are several casinos in the area and there are plenty of gentleman clubs as well. Look to Washington ave, Grand Ave. and the Central West End for nightclubs, bars, and dance clubs.

To let those who wish to know the truth ...again..The National Park that contains the Arch is open year round and no the Arch trams are not closed most of the time as more than 2 million people go to the top of the arch every year.
I have lived in many different cities around the country and around the globe and I will confess this place has a lot going for it...much of which is unknown about or undiscovered by people visiting. There is a ton of stuff to do there and there and the people in general are nice.

The nice thing about St. Louis is that if you really want to get away to a really huge city ...not a sprawling suburb like LA metro area, Chicago is only an hour away by plane or 5 hours by car..its a great weekender get away. Of course there is Kansas City too and the Lake of the Ozarks is only about 3 hours drive south. Five hours away south is Memphis home of Elvis and Nashville is only five hours too..Indianapolis (the indy 500)is only four hours all of these are by car. Louisville (the kentucky derby) is only 4 hours away by car.

St. Louis is has also been ranked one of the best vacation spots for your dollar by a leading (2013) travel magazine. I live in NYC and the last thing about St. Louis that I will say is that there are a lot of places in St. Louis that remind me of my home. The avenues, the buildings, and other things. Oh, St. Louis has some great food too.
