5/5/2007Wow Jean! I've lived in Sioux Falls for five years and have never heard of "I'm Dutch" come out of anybody's mouth. In case you're wondering "I'm Hispanic".

Sioux Falls is GREAT!!! -
10/10/2006My wife and I moved from the Omaha area 5 years ago. Omaha is a great city, but the crime rate is high and the taxes will drain your bank account.
There are several positives to living in the Sioux Falls area: Low crime rate, Low property taxes, Affordable housing with new construction (residential/commercial) all over the city, Strong economy with the lowest unemployment rate in the nation, An abundance of shopping/eating venues, Multiple parks/swimming pools, Excellent school system with the 3 public high schools ranked in the top 1,200 in the nation (22,000+ in US) and Sioux Falls only catholic high school ranked in the top 50 (1,100+ in US), Top notch health care system with Sioux Valley Hospital ranking in the top 50 in 3 specialties (5,100+ in US), Continuing education opportunities with public/private colleges and tech schools, Four season weather (winters can be rough), Easy access to 2 interstate systems (I-90/I-29) with Omaha and Minneapolis 3-4 hours away.
Sioux Falls is lacking some cultural and ethnic diversity, but this is changing as the city continues to grow. No town/city is perfect and every person has his/her opinion of what the ideal town/city is. Some enjoy the hustle and bustle of a NYC, L.A., or Chicago. If you prefer a slower pace with the setting to raise a family, start a business, or re-locate yourself, Sioux Falls is an A+.
