4/12/2009 Fairview is a quiet peaceful town where I enjoy visiting my family. Not much of a town, but when I visit my spirits feel renewed from it's small town simplicity and crisp, quiet atmosphere.

4/12/2009 What I like most about Altus is the lake. It has a beautiful, red and sandy beach. I nicknamed it Little California because it is as close as Oklahoma get's to resembling a Pacific beach resort. Lake Altus is practically a tropical paradise oasis on a vast barren plain.

4/12/2009 I love Altus lake. It has lovely scenic beach. This is as about as close as Oklahoma gets to California. I nicknamed it Little Cali.

4/12/2009 I just moved here and the place has a very unfriendly atmosphere. People here don't know how to wave back. They just briefly stare in a smug kind of way and go about there business. I can since negativity in a place, and Centerville is ugly. As far as crime goes as can say this town is free of that, but otherwise the majority of the people here are over weight,complacent,narrow-minded, and pessimistic. There is no charisma here and this place lacks vision. As soon as my wife finishes school we are out of here. This place is simply a pit stop.

4/12/2009 I just moved here and the place has a very unfriendly atmosphere. The people seem complacent,narrow-minded, and pessimistic. There is absolutely lack of vision and no charisma in this town.

4/8/2009 Altus is a small town with people of big vision.
What I like best about altus is the lake. It has beautiful, red, sandy beaches surrounded by rising mountains of solid granit. This place has unique written all over it. If I had a nickname for the area it would be Little California. The sailboarding gives the place a slick, sporty atmosphere. It would have been a great setting for an 80's summer hit movie with stars like Meg Ryan, Rob Lowe, and Brad Pitt. I haven't been there since I was a young child, but the taste of Peach Sherbert brings back those bbeloved summer memories of 1987 and 88. When I get situated I'm going to grab my sailboard and return.

Lake Altus is the best part. The beautiful red sandy beaches are wide and the lake is surrounded by mountains of solid granite. The place is unique as can be. If I had a nickname for the place it would be (Little California)because it has a tropical look to it. It would have been a great setting for an 80's summer hit movie, with maybe stars like Rob Lowe or Brad Pitt. The sailboarding gives it a very sporty atmosphere, like surfing does California.
I haven't been there since 1988. But the taste of peach sherbert brings back those 1987-1988 beloved summer memories.

4/8/2009 Lawton has several things to do: Great Plains Coloseum, Mcmahon auditorium, Cameron Stadium, Elmerthomas park, Lawton Speedway, Native Sun, park with tennis court, frisby golf, and track, 2 bowling alleys, 3 movie theaters, Central Mall, 2 Superwalmarts, Putt-putt, YMCA, and several recreation centers.

Examples: Great Plains Coloseum, Mcmahon auditorium, Elmerthomas park, Cameron Stadium, 3 movie theaters, 2 duck ponds, park with tennis court,disc golf, and track, Lawton Speedway, Native Sun, minature golf, 2 bowling alleys, skating rink, go cart track, Central Mall, 2 Superwally worlds, Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, medicine park recreation area, a casino if you know your limit, and not to mention every residential area has a park.

4/8/2009 In many places affordable housing means hood. One of the advantages of living in Lawton is that you don't have to sacrifice safety for affordability.

4/8/2009 The thing I hate most about Lawton is that there is a huge network of evil and corruption. People are nosy and stuff gets around quick there. A few people including my mother has stated the town is cursed. I have known a few people to have claimed to practice witchcraft in this town.

4/8/2009I think most people are just focused on the central part of town. Every thing west of 38st and east of the Howard Johnson Hotel seems to have a nice appearance. And as far as narrow minded people, and noise go I've seen plenty of that and worst in Atlanta.

4/8/2009 I know Lawton could do better, but at least there is something to do. Lawton is my hometown. I try to focus on it's good points. If your military you might be familiar with a place called Hinesville, Ga. It is a 16 mi. hole of 30000 with literally nothing to do but drink with the exception of 1 movie theater. No matter where you go there the people are rude an arrogant. This place made me really wish I was home.

4/8/2009 Lawton is considered by many people to be a small town. Small city is a more appropriat term. It covers more than 75 square miles of land with a population of more 90000, but people make it out like it's a real life modern day Mayberry. Don't get me wrong there are better and bigger places. I have to disagree that there is nothing to do there. I can give a list of places. Mcmahon auditorium, Great Plains coloseum, 2 parks with a duck pond, Cameron University stadium, 3 movie theaters, minature golf and regular golf, park with tennis court, disc golf, and track, Central mall, Native sun water park, several recreation centers, lots of restaurants, 2 Super Wall Marts, an exceptional amount of clubs, 2 bowling alleys, skating rink, YMCA, Lawton speedway, and to say the least a park for every single residential area. If you're military your probably familiar with a place called Hinesville, Ga. 16 square mi. hole of 30000 with nothing to do but go to bars, has only one park, and every thing else is drinking.
