I recently relocated to South Florida after having considered NC as my next home. I'm not happy in Florida and I keep thinking about Charlotte or other city in NC to call my next home. I like all of what you said on your posting, but I've also read some negative comments about high taxes, jobs difficult to find and people not accepting outsiders. You said you were a southerner- where from? I used to live in PA and I'm terribly homesick. Not liking South florida at all. How's the job market in Charlotte and over all the cost of living?

Searching for my next home - in Tampa? -
12/30/2012I recently moved to South Florida after living in PA all my life. We lived in Collegeville, about 30 miles outside of Philly. It's a small town with beautiful communities. We owned our home, which regrettably we sold and headed to florida in search of more laid back living. Did we get a rude awakening. Since we've been here, I found work and promptly lost my job, something I never experienced before. My husband found work right away but works 10 times harder than he every did, for less money. We thought we were moving to paradise, but I think we left paradise behind!
I absolutely hate the Gold Coast. I could never afford a home here and it's too overly commercial. We drive around looking for a neighborhood I might like to live in, but only miss PA more. Originally, we wanted to move to the Tampa area but people said work would be hard to find. I think I would like the west coast better than the east. The east is too overly developed already. Miami was so over the top that I couldn't wait to get out of there. Its a nice place to visit or vacation in but I wouldn't want to live there. I guess I'm a quiet country girl at heart.
Can anyone tell me about living in Tampa and jobs? I really think I would like the west better but at this point, I'd like to hear from folks living in the area before making any moves. I've already screwed up once and I don't want to keep hopping all over florida finding a place to live. I'd appreciate any locals sharing their experience and thoughts with me. - Thanks!
