Good and Bad -
11/15/2022A fun city to live in with great food! Housing isn't terrible compared to other big cities. The cyclists who think they own the streets and paths drive me crazy. People generally get along just watch certain areas that are a bit dangerous. The cold - it is for real. The heat - it is also for real. The traffic is also for real. A great city for a few years after college then everyone leaves. The crime, cold, and congestion beat you down eventually.

City in decline -
4/16/2021Could be worse - drug issues, no good jobs, lots of crime, but nice outside activities. Locals don't like anyone moving here and taking a job - I can say that! Glad I got out - there are a few rich that control all and the rest poor.

My go to place -
4/16/2021Owned a place there for 20 years and spend a few weeks each season there. Heading back in a few weeks! Lows: Spotty internet for work. Saturday traffic. Hurricanes. Highs: Amazing people, friendly place, great beaches, great food, shopping, not too crowded compared to many beaches even in the summer. Less attitude than many places, people are chill.

Longest winter of my life -
12/18/2020Did a short term stay here for work, it was the most depressing place I could ever imagine. Boring, unfriendly people, freezing winter, crap restaurants, and horrible roads. Despite putting myself out there no one who was local did anything - after work it was just go home and stare at the TV and drink or do drugs. Joined a gym which saved my sanity.

12/18/2020Do you like being panhandled every 30 seconds? Love that cool ambiance of gangs? Are drugs your thing? Then you will love Memphis. Had good times here in the 90’s, the downhill slide continues. God bless this mess.

Mayberry in a way -
12/9/2020Safe, totally non diverse though (99% white), schools are ok but most people here use private schools anyway which tells you that this is an exclusive place in general to live. Not cheap.

12/9/2020Tons of PT programs in the state so jobs are limited to long term care, hard to find in the good cities like Chatt or Knoxville. Salaries here are low but OK based on coast of living. TN is VERY diverse by city - some cities are great, some are hell holes.

12/9/2020Could not leave fast enough. Crime, unemployment, and the prejudice against anyone not of Portuguese descent was palpable. Gangs running wild.

12/9/2020Only boring if you don't venture out - this city has been rated on best of outside activities lists consistently. As far as fitting in - yes, it is a WASPY town but tolerant of all.

10/18/2018Lived here almost 30 years. Very safe community. Schools are OK but not stellar, many residents use private schools. High humidity in the area is a pain. No public transportation. The main draw is a super safe place to live, almost no crime.

11/25/2017Overall a very friendly and fun city that is generally safe. Lots of options for housing, lots of jobs, and outdoor activities are great. Yes, it is in the Bible belt, if that offends you though people won't judge you for not going to Church!

1/30/2006Amazing traffic problems and an increasing problem with crime and homeless harassment made me get out. Enough said.
