Big Disappointment -
7/15/2006We travel extensively in MI - it has always been one of our favorite places to spend a summer. In the past, TC has been one of our favorite cities. We just were there (2006) and it was a huge disappointment. We had not been back in a few years and the changes we saw were sad.
We found the people to be rude - from the bumper stickers saying,"it's tourist season, why can't we shoot them?" to the hotel service staff who left a note in English stating the reason she couldn't change the sheets was because she didn't speak English to the waitress who spilled water on me and huffed about it - no apology. The first thing we saw when we arrived were about 12 people holding signs protesting the war, Republicans and our troops (we did laugh about that - they looked a little silly because the 12 included little kids who looked bored and confused about what they were doing). A town that makes its living on tourism should be a little more welcoming to everyone and should make those tourist feel good about visiting. We actually left TC early and figured our loss of deposit was worth it just to get out of the town.
