Going down hill -
1/25/2006We lived in Oak Park for 6 years. In that time it went from an up-and-coming neighborhood like Ferndale or Royal Oak to a pit. This place has gone so down hill in the last few years that we just had to get out. We were thankful to get some kind of return on our house. If we had waited any longer I think we would have lost money. I agree with the other person - don't move here.

What a great city for settling down! -
1/25/2006We just moved to Livonia from Oak Park and it is night and day! We were getting tired of the hustle and bustle as we were a just a mile from Ferndale and Royal Oak before. We've settled in Livonia. It's quiet, family oriented, friendly and for a larger city has a bit of a small town feel. I really love it. The only criticism that I would give to Livonia is that there really isn't much culture and the restaurants are nowhere near as good as they were in Royal Oak and Ferndale. But if you like quiet and family...this is the place to be.
