Carmichael, CA

haha, you want an honest opinion about a city/town trust me when you've ask the right town! just don't you talk crap about it, you'll get your butt chewed.

Camrichael is cool, just stay from the boulevards and the trailer parks. Theres a lot near the freeways. Allt he towns in the east/northern parts of sacramento are the same, except maybe past roseville, it starts to get sort of pricey there and the cost of living is bay area ridiculous. Whats nice about carmichael is that the streets are pretty quiet, and from what i can tell their power doesnt go out for too long. black outs are super frequent in the sac area, never for too long but still it's a consideration when you move here.

That said, crime can be pretty bad here depending on how you look at it. It's mostly petty theft, not a lot of violent crime long as you're not looking for it. Lot's of car break ins and peoples sheds getting ripped off. Just dont leave anything out or unlocked and youll be fine. we're better than most norcal cities.

I hope youre used to heat though, 100+ in the summers, and humid. also, the fog... I'd like to say you get used to it, but i never did after 20 years.

For your son, id say anywhere here is great! super diverse for the most part, espically the closer to the city you get, and i would ride my minibike all over the place with no problems. The schools are still kind of crap though, I mean this area is nicer but maybe try one of the private or alternative school options. Honestly though, anything public+california are gonna be bad.

Fair Oaks, CA

Hometown - 10/11/2016
I grew up in the little section nestled near the hospital, It's more citrus heights than it is fair oaks but i get in on a technicality. I loved growing up here, hella good memories, dad still owns his old house here. Super tight hood with not a lot really going on. I sort of miss hearing the roosters every morning. It's finally recovering from the '08 crisis, but the apartment prices are still typical for anywhere between arden to roseville.

A lot of people complain about the infrastructure (no lights, pot holes, etc.) but that's because it's the last town in the area to not be incorporated. That means it's up to the county (lol) to do something about it. I don't see why people want street lamps though, the glow from the grid is enough to see and it shining into your window every night are deterrent enough for me to not want them.

Traffic has always been an issue. Half the town sits on madison and sunrise, what did you expect? Whats cool about it, and the fact that it's still county property, is that local business' could really flourish here. Don't trust what people say about the drivers here, that's what everyone says about everywhere they're not from (except utah, ya'll suck). You complain how fast we go, but hows you just keep up.

It's weird to see how much it's grown over the years, most my family is in placerville or morgan hill these days, so I don't get to see home a lot, but when i feel homesick i look on sites like this to remind me of here. 5 years ago, you couldn't even find this town in a drop down menu, google maps didn't even know where fair oaks was, it just gave you gps coordinates. It's growing quick, and it's starting to remind me of something like the small hoods you find in the deep east of portland or like east of seattle.

Great neighborhood all and all, not really self sufficient but not a lot of them are out here. We all hate sac, but at the same time we love where we're from right? I'd hate to see this place turn into another sort of playground for the privileged, but hey it's sac who the hell wants to move here anyways? unless you're some hipster who thought taking a menial city job is SF was a good idea. GTFO less you wanna sactown ass whoopin', and stop saying hella, that's our word.
