BET ranks Columbus the #1 city for African America
- 2/23/2007
I am done replying to your posts after this. BET did a study of cities and found that Columbus was the best city for well-educated African Americans. They said in their website that Columbus is DIVERSE! If you don't believe me, go to BET.com, type in Columbus, Ohio, scroll down to where it says Best and Worst Cities for Blacks. You will see it in print. Are you all go to argue with a website and television station that promotes and tries to uplift african americans? Let the diversity issue die. It is obvious you are all wrong and BET sees the truth. LA wasn't ranked #1 nor were any of the other cities (Austin for example) that you all mentioned in your posts. Thank you BET for seeing that Columbus is a wonderful city!

Columbus is Fashionable
- 2/23/2007
I posted recently, but I needed to respond to a few people that have compared Columbus to other cities. Columbus is growing rapidly. It has a huge job market for those that are looking for better paying jobs. As for fashion, Columbus is where Victoria's Secret, The Limited, Express, Lane Bryant, Bath and Body Works, etc. are all headquartered. The first Limited store was opened in Columbus. The Limited Brands encompasses all of these stores. When you get that cute skirt out or put that great smelling lotion on remember that it came from Columbus. Oh, but we are so behind in everything. That is funny. We get things before other places do. Most of your everday products are made in Ohio. Its amazing that you talk so much smack about Columbus and Ohio, but know so little about it. Also, Columbus is ranked 12th in Sterling's best places for being a great place to find a date. I think you might be having a hard time finding friends and dates because of your attitudes not because of where you live. As for the weather, go to any state in the north or in the south and you'll find that they all have grey and cold winters. That is normal. We have four seasons! California is not immune to bad weather. It rained for the whole winter in 2004. It rained today! I have never visited or lived in a state (including California) that has perfect weather. California is extremely hot if you are not along the coastline. Who can afford to live near the coastline, anyway? Another thing, has anyone ever driven in LA or another big city. People in LA freak out when they see a rain cloud. There are so many horrible drivers out this way. I rather drive in Columbus traffic any day. At least they don't freak out at the sign of rain. I think all of you should move back to the city you came from and leave Columbus to people that actually appreciate what it has to offer.

Columbus is a great city to live in
- 2/22/2007
I have read several posts saying how bad Columbus is. I have read a few positive posts though. I think it is funny that some of these people that are posting have never grown up in or truly lived in Columbus for a long length of time. Columbus has a lot of different things to offer. It has great places to shop. Polaris Fashion Place is the best mall I have been to yet. It has a great night life. I went to OSU so believe me when I say that Columbus is a party town. OSU is the largest school in the US. Columbus must be doing something right for their students. It is very diverse. I have read all your comments about there being no diversity. It is funny that you say that. I live in LA now and I find that all races tend to keep to themselves. There is quite a bit of racism between all of the races out here. Black and Hispanic hate crimes are on the rise. We are talking about a city of 3,000,000 people. I don't think diversity is based on how many people of different races are in a city. I think it is based on whether the races actually interact. I have found very few cities that have a true melting pot atomosphere. I have a couple of friends that are gay (one coming from Cali.) that have said Columbus is the gay capital of the midwest. Example, the Short North and German Town. There are so many rainbow signs waving it isn't funny. Another thing, Columbus is a very liberal city. They are primarily democratic and liberal. I think it is funny that this guy (from Detroit of all places) is complaining about Columbus. Detroit looks like it was hit by an atomic bomb in most places. Columbus has a lot of hot bands that come to it; almost every band you can think of has come to Columbus. I have a harder time finding some bands in LA. I can't even believe he would actually compare Columbus to Detroit. That is actually quite funny. I have lived in LA for three years and I think Columbus has everything LA just on a smaller scale. At least, we get our monies worth for housing in Columbus. You should see what you get (it isn't pretty) for $1,000,000 in LA. You'll get a mansion for that price in Ohio. Delaware County, Ohio would not be the 11th fastest growing county in the US if Columbus sucked. BTW, LA is ranked third for the fatest city in the country. There weren't any Ohio cities on the top ten list. I think it is funny that Columbus is being called fat when the city of plastic surgery is one of the fatest. That is hysterical. Bott
