It's Just Home!! -
3/1/2011Growing up in Iowa (I know, one of those dang Yankees), I never liked the cold or snow, in fact when I was 15 and went to FL in February and it was warm and sunny, I decided then and there I was moving to FL or TX when I grew up. Why Texas my family wondered, having never been there, it just sounded like a good place to go. Three days after my 21st birthday, I was there and although I miss my family sometimes, I told my mother that geographically I was born in the wrong place!! I love Texas, it is warm and inviting, you'll never meet better people - sure there are jerks everywhere - but in Texas, you'll meet fewer of them! We live in NM at the moment and are trying like the dickens to get back home! Once back, I will not move away again, ever!! I kind of know how Dorothy felt after she got out of Kansas, I just want to go home!! If you are thinking of moving to this great state, well, I just can't think of anything to discourage it! Once you're there, you'll understand - it's just home!!

Get me out of here!! -
8/18/2010I've written 2 reviews, one shortly after we moved here and another after almost 3 years in RR, NM. Well, now going on to 5 years and HATE IT! People are rude, overly sensitive to what you say but don't have a problem letting you know what they think, education sucks - NM is in the bottom 7 in the country. Mountains are pretty but certainly not worth living in this vast desert wasteland. It is so windy in the spring, if you like open windows, forget it...or plan to dust constantly! Give me some green grass and tall trees - how's George Strait say it? "I'll be somewhere down in Texas if you're lookin' for me" Cannot wait to leave this little piece of hell! They aren't kidding when you hear "It's not the Land of Enchantment, it's the Land of Entrapment!"

8/18/2010Naturally, there would be negative responses to this, everyone here is liberal and Christians are the minority!

Hmmm....after almost 3 years..... -
3/2/2009Not so enamored anymmore! Too big too fast, too many kids in a classroom. School district broke but won't admit any fault - like most other people here, they want to blame someone else for their mistakes. I'd rather go home to Texas with my fellow Conservative Christians who believe in working for a living, not waiting for a handout! Besides that, yeah, the weather is dry and nice through June, July and August, but it's cold the rest of the year! Sorry Rio Rancho, I'd rather go home to Dallas!

There isn't anywhere better! -
4/6/2007I absolutely love it here! I grew up in the midwest, Davenport, IA, moved to Dallas, TX as soon as I could to get away from the cold! Lived in Dallas for 20 years and moved to Great Bend, KS (truly the armpit of America!). After 3 1/2 miserable years, my husband suggested Albuquerque! Well, with family in Davenport and Dallas, this seemed like a bad idea, farther from everyone! After checking out the climate, I was ready! I miss my family but Albuquerque has a wonderful airport....we had to drive 2 hrs. to Wichita for an airport in KS! Despite what I've heard, we are not so far behind the times here. You want behind the times, backward thinking? Go to Kansas! You want great people and even better weather? This is the spot for you!!!
