Huntersville, NC

Huntersville, NC
- 4/11/2007
Huntersville is located in northern Mecklenburg county, and is directly north of Charlotte. The city borders the southern shores of Lake Norman. The population of Huntersville in 1990 was around 3,000 residents, today it surpasses 40,000 residents. The city is popular because of it being close to Charlotte but far enough away to be its own city. The growth has been phenomenal over the past few years (as with many NC towns and cities near Raleigh and Charlotte). The city completed a major shopping/residential area known as 'Birkdale Village' a few years ago. It is now the model of current and future development of the surrounding areas. Birkdale offers a small town feel inside a city complete with shops with condos on top, and a movie theatre. The city is now planning to annex several square miles to its east as the city feels the need to continue to expand to support its continued growth. The downside is the major traffic issues the city faces and the overdevelopment of former farmland into big box store parking lots.

Mooresville, NC

Mooresville, NC

Mooresville is a city located in Iredell county just north of Charlotte. The popular draw to the city is it being located on Lake Norman and within a close drive to Charlott. Lake Norman is a large and very popular lake. The area has seen tremendous growth over the past few years and continues today to expand. The city itself looks nice, but is overrun by big box stores. The traffic is absolutely terrible, on the roads and now even the lake. City planners are obsessed with development. The infrastructure is at the breaking point with schools and roads being overcrowded.

Hickory, NC

Hickory is a great city!
- 4/10/2007
Hickory is a great city to live in. Located in the North Carolina foothills in Catawba county, it is also bordered by Lake Hickory. The city is growing but is not overpopulated. Traffic isnt too bad either. 2007 brought the announcement of several new businesses coming to the area, including a Google processing center and a Target Corp. Distribution center to name a few. The weather is nice year-round. Located by interstate 40, you can hop on the interstate and drive west into the mountains, or east towards the coast. The city is growing, and has a rather large mall named Valley Hills Mall, all the major chain stores and restaraunts, Hickory Crawdads Baseball Stadium, Lenoir-Rhyne College, etc...
