re: Avoid at all cost - 3/5/2013

I have a child attending the high school this year. There is a new principal this year and she is smart, supportive and caring for the students. My child happens to be in the special ed department and he is constantly challenged and supported by the staff. If they left him alone he probably would leave the classroom. The teachers are attentive even following the children to their classes in the case they need extra attention. I am aware of the drug problems at the school however what school doesn't have them nowadays? The important thing is to be a rolemodel for your children and keep watch over them. They are still children after all only they now have surging hormones to deal with. You are responsible for your children. I have noticed many parents in the town allow the kids to run around unescorted. What would a parent expect? The town does close up after 5:00 except in summer to go home to their families. Is that really a bad thing? I've lived here only 3 yrs and not found any "clicks" with the adults in town at all. In fact they all seem to go out of there way to help out. It still amazes me! Maybe the grass is greener for those who grew up here but coming from a big city it is very very "green" here. Yes there is alot of rain and wind in the winter it is Oregon but you will not ever have to shuvel snow out of your driveway. The city is always working to avoid puddling problems. I have not had many puddle issues exept on the areas that are unincorporated. Spring brings more rain with many sunny kite flying days. Summer is dry and yes you have to actually water your grass and plants. I could go on but living in a town with a population less than 3k is very nice and safe. Walking the neighborhoods is wonderful and the people are kind. If all that is boreing then maybe living here may not be best for you.

perfect climate - 11/10/2012
The rain is Beautiful as it creates lush green grasses and tall thick pines reaching to the coast. You experience every season here but never in a harsh setting. The snow comes enough to look like a winter wonderland but never enough to shuvel.
The sun comes out all year to allow for a walk along the Beautiful beaches or to catch fresh crabs for dinner. The locals call Bandon part of the bannana belt due to the climate but I've never seen a single bannana tree. There are lots of cranberry bpgs built by farmers wild berries growing everywhere and to my surprise many artichoke plants in neighborhood yards. The climate is rarely extreme in any way. We get some occasional gusts of wind in the winter but the rest of the year its perfectly calm or fabulous kite flying weather.

Friendlyist town I've ever been. - 11/10/2012
I love it so much I decided to leave the crowds in San Diego Ca for absolutely stunning views, fresh air and beyond Friendly people. The schools here are very small and care for each and every student. Many artists call Bandon home. Its a very pet friendly town. Bring your dogs or even horses shopping with you. Being a military veteran I'm very surprised how supportive this town is. The agricultural is very plentiful with cranberries and you can fins cranberry everything in the adorable local shops.
