Santa Fe, NM | 3 Review(s)

California is my home state. Residing in Santa Fe, NM.
************************************************************
Do I like NM...hmm, I would say choose what to like and not to like and stick to your choices and preferably enjoy much of what you like and immerse in it because choices here are not vast.
Art and Culture have their place and makes life enjoyable but should not take over your whole opinion for defining quality of life.
*************************************************************
Note: Tourists and visitors view of a place is not reliable. Live in a place for two years at least to know enough to speak about it.
....In transition...seeing what is next.

Denver, CO

re: Denver metro area - 11/17/2012

Seriously! Seriously! Living in New Mexico, I would say all your comments can be said of NM. Small, nothing to do and there is a drinking problem..etc. The weather is similar. If I would be in Colorado, I would not be any worse off. At least I will not be in a " death-spiral" State. hehe. But then again, you will always find those that say that it is all on how one sees things.

Santa Fe, NM

Santa Fe's beauty for tourists only - 3/15/2010
This city is unrealistic of the people that inhabits it. Most of the people here are struggling economically and the rich are on the outskirts striving to keep their idea of the city alive. There is no balance of good living here. The only part of the city that is attractive enough is downtown area and is only maintained for tourists attraction, but the feeling and the vibe of the place is not there. People are what makes the place beautiful not the buildings. When there is an attempt to build exclusivity in a very small space it brings conflict and disenchantment. This place has a withering identity like an old lady who can't accept has lost her beauty and youth and still attempts to retain it by all means and is in denial that is gone. Santa Fe beauty is at the plaza only.

Albuquerque, NM

Quality of life--zero - 2/4/2009
Albuquerque has no quality of life. If you mention to me the weather and the mountains, I will puke, I came from Cali and there are mountains there too and great weather, so no big deal. The vibe of this place is negative and usually it seems that people are more miserable here.
I totally agree with the previous comments on how people are very close and are not open to others. Friendly, I do not think so. Believe me, I have never encountered more insecure women in my life than here.
I would not say that Albuquerque has good places to live. There are small pockets of good neighborhoods and then the next street is a totally different story. You have to be willing to live besides 'bad elements' because there are usually on the next block. That to me is not good living. I usually feel claustrophobic.
Pay is disappointing. Oh, there is work but the pay is awful.
I have lived here for three years and I will certainly say this place is really not my home.
I think only locals will tell the greatness of this place, because that is all they know. Oh, yeah--Green Chilli.
Oh, yeah enough said.
Nob Hill, RidgeCrest are nice and that is about it. Also, Santa Fe has a total different vibe and has more culture.
