8/24/2008There are bad areas in all communities. You must have a particullarly bad habit of hanging around in them all. Spring Hill, in fact, has a very small "bad area". I didn't even run across a lower income neighborhood until I had lived her 2 years. We have over 75% home ownership in the area and that means pride in ownership and nicer neighborhoods.

8/24/2008Where in Spring Hill does this guy live? Mexicans? Puerto Ricans? Rich Retirees? Rednecks and Drunk Drivers?
I admit we have them all here but the MAJORITY of residents are low-middle income retirees and hard working familes.

8/24/2008This is a small town. We don't pay city, county or state income taxes. Many retirees in the area keep the money out of services that would normally be available to a community with more families.
But housing costs are low, you can actually afford to live in the area and own a nice home. My 5/3/2 with a large pool on a beautiful lot just appraised for $225,000. Where else in Florida are you going to get that?
The schools are improving as the population grows. More stores are moving up here too. We do lack any kind of nightlife, so if you are a young adult you wold be bored out of your minds around here.
We have fishing, canoeing, large state parks, 9 months of swimming weather, and Weeki Wachee Springs.
We have the Brooksville Raid (the south's largest civil war reenactment)and Swampfest. And don't forget...Disney, Sea World, Bucsh Gardens and more are just 60-90 minutes away.
Why don't people understand that if you pay less you get less? Don't move to Spring Hill from New York, pay 1/4 of the cost for your home and than whine about our lack of activities!

Spring Hill, Get what you pay for... -
6/25/2008You truly get what you pay for in Spring Hill. The reason so many move here is because housing is lower than many areas. That is why I did. I could no longer afford the prices in Pinellas County. But there is very little public service, bare minimums. Very little public transportation and the schools are good but not state of the art. But I pay lower property tax, no city tax, no state tax and lower sales tax. You have to realize that when you pay more, you get more. I love my neighborhood and my children are thriving.
