Sunrise, FL

If you like an active life with all the amenities (hockey, baseball, football, basketball, opera, ballet, broadway shows, the beach, shopping, etc.) it is all here. You can be as busy as you want or just sit in the sun and enjoy the beautiful weather. In Sunrise, the older areas are great neighborhoods with friendly neighbors, mixed ages, and ethnic backgrounds. You find neighbors helping neighbors in these areas. The older homes are a tad cheaper and smaller than the newer subdivisions, but they have character and are much more individualized. The convenience to all the cultural events is a great plus and you sports buff will have enough to keep them busy. There are resaurants galore in the area. Miami and Palm Beach are both close and many people commute to both cities. I find the area unstressful and fun. If you ride a motorcycle, there are multiple day trips available, including Lake Okechobee (great fishing there), Naples (nice resaurants) and the Keys...a fun place to go. It is an ideal place to get out of the cold and enjoy life. The housing market is slowing so the prices of homes is stablizing. Most profit taking has been done and it is going towards a buyer's market. Sunrise taxes are less than several other cities in the area with tons of extras for city residents (ie: city trams, fireworks for 4th of July, parks, activities, senior center, children activies, good schools, close to colleges, and many more)Sawgrass Outlet Mall and the ice hockey stadium are located in the city with many activies available at both places.
