6/23/2006Glendale, CA is a very convenient location. It is near downtown Los Angeles (20 minutes by car, 30 minutes by train, 40 minutes by bus). By car, Glendale residents can be skiing in the mountains in 90 minutes or swimming in the Pacific ocean in 35 minutes. Various museums (LACMA, Gene Autry Museum, Forest Lawn-Glendale, etc.), the L.A. Zoo and Griffith Park are all within a 30-minute drive from central Glendale. Glendale has its own community college, and shopping and dining choices are abundant. Large stores that are not in Glendale (yet) are in adjacent communities (Burbank, Los Feliz, Pasadena, etc.). Glendale has its own libraries, fire dept, police dept, and water/electric company. Within the past 5 years, Glendale was rated #1 among cities with more than 100,000 population, and the crime rate is still low.
