Nice Mountain Town -
9/10/2008This town hasn't been overdeveloped like so many other quaint mountain towns in the past. The town is about 15 minutes from Boulder, you literally just drive down the mountain and you're in Boulder, very convenient. The city is very pet friendly and the local diner "The Merc" serves great food and has that small town trust to let you put stuff on a tab and pay at the end of the month. They even hold local dances sometime which are fun, probably wont see too many new faces but a good time is had by all.
If you're looking for a small, quiet mountain town where you can get away from the hustle n bustle of the city but still be close enough that it's convenient Jamestown is the town for you!
Livonia, MI
Great City -
9/10/2008I lived in Livonia most of my life and it's a pretty decent city! The schools are good, there are plenty of parks. There are 3 public pools, a couple of golf courses and the roads are improving. The only thing I didn't like was going to Stevenson with all the spoiled, rich kids. Thats the odd thing about Livonia.. if you start off in the southeast corner (by Westland and Redford) homes are around 150,000-200,000 if you go northwest through the city the homes go up to 500,000 in that corner of the city. One the subject of housing with the economy struggling a bit homes are going up for rent now and renters are coming from Detroit.
Overall, the city is great! Nice houses, tons of parks and recreation opportunities for kids of all ages. Not to mention the new state-of-the-art Recreation center, outdoor rollar hockey rink and ballparks abundant. The high schools all have special things about them. Churchill has a creative and performing arts program, Stevenson has a global education program and Franklin... I cant remember (its been a few years, sorry). There are 2 nice movie theaters, plenty of places to go out to eat at and you're close enough to some bigger cities (ann arbor & Detroit) without having to deal with the problems. I would recommend it. Hope you'll give it a chance!
