Northern California small town -
12/3/2008Susanville is a small western town with more cattle than people. It has miles of hiking trails, mountains, and lakes. The elevation is 4500 feet, with very hot, dry summers, and cool winters with a few inches of snow each year to ocassionally several feet of snow. If you like the outdoors, don't need a big mall to visit often, this is the place. There is a small 25-bed hospital. Reno is the closet city at 85 miles away. The biggest income producer in Susanville is the 2 high-security state prisons.
