4/2/2009parentChaffee is a school that goes the extra mile. Children get the attention they need. There are extra programs for children who are high achieving & who have special needs. Teachers work well with parents and the kids are happy here and are challenged. Two of my children have moved on well prepared for Middle School and my youngest who is still here has made the A B and A honor rolls. Teachers here and in the Huntsville City school system are looking out for our children and found some issues with my youngest I would have never noticed. We are now addressing those issues and that has helped my child become a better student.
11/12/2008parentI am a proud parent of a child who attends at Chaffee. The school is just wonderful. The teachers and staff are great and really nice. My son is on the A B Honor Roll at Chaffee so I am a very proud parent and love to tell people about Chaffee Elementary School.
9/17/2008studentI went to Chaffee. It's a nice school, the teacher's are great, and were a big help. Although, I can't say I liked the carpeted floors, non-divided classrooms, and detached gym.
7/13/2008parent...My daughter loves it and loved her kindergarten teacher. And can't wait to meet her first grade teacher.....The one thing about this school I do not like is the fact they make the children stand outside until 730. Unless you are a student who is part of safety patrol. I believe they should open the lunchroom or allow children to sit in the library instead of standing out there alone in the cold or extreme heat. Because sometimes paren't may need to be at work by 730 or so....But after 730 there is an adult stanidng outside but before there is no adult out there and i refuse to just leave my daughter outside without an adult...so i wish they could come up with an alternative to make the morning drop offs a little safer so the parents won't worry about someone coming and getting thier children..overall great school however.
10/5/2007parentChaffee has been a wonderful school that we are very proud to be a part of. The teachers and administration are very caring and create a safe and warm atmosphere for the children to learn in. The small size of the school is a plus and that it creates a very family like environment. My daughter can't wait to get to school every day!
8/14/2007parentChaffee is a great school! K-2 really pushes reading and memorizing math facts in a positive environment.(Phonics worksheets in 1st gr. were not real fun, but their program Works so I'm not complaining.) Fifth grade really prepares kids for middle school. Space program is awesome. The principal, Dr. Bruton, is very involved, an excellent administrator. All of the teachers/staff work together well to create a safe, cozy learning atmosphere. Employees know students and call them out by name for positive reinforcement or needed correction. The majority of parents are involved in some aspect of school life, as work schedules allow.
7/29/2007parentChaffee has great parental involvement, which I believe is the key to a school's excellence. It is located in a nice, quiet neighborhood. The school is small enough that the school staff knows most of the children by name.
7/13/2007parentChaffee is a great school. It is small and a bit old. However, the teachers and staff are of the highest quality. There is great parent involvement and sometimes seems like a private school. Chaffee is the best kept secret in Huntsville.
