5/16/2011parentI have volunteered In classrooms at Prestwood for the past 3 years. The two major concerns I have are the increased number of students per classroom and the general disrepair of the physical structures. I for one would be willing to pay higher taxes to invest more in schools but my fellow voters do not agree.
1/10/2011parentDrama and cliques are the norm here. There is quite a bit of snobbery and cliques among parents. The administration leaves something to be desired and the 'warm and fuzzies' are missing. The teachers here are overall great but the low rating is due to the overall feeling of the school.
6/16/2010otherIf you don't mind cliques..and don't mind drama...then this is the school for you. Prestwood is not what it used to be...
10/22/2008parentPrestwood is a great public school! My kids went to the local catholic school and I think the education & arts are much better at Prestwood. There is great parent help and the teachers are really vested in the kids' eductional needs. The campus is cheerful and colorful. Since switching schools, my kids STAR scored have gone up and socially, they have made many more friends. I'm really impressed with the school!
12/19/2007parentI am absolutely amazed by Prestwood. My daughter is in Ms. Foshay's 5th grade class, the best class ever! I love the balance with academics and the arts
6/8/2006parentJust completed our first year at the school and we are happy with our choice. We were considering Parochial and other private options but in the end we are quite satisfied. Good parent envolvement, decent availability of extracurriclars (Music, art, etc) given the Cal. budget issues. Some minor issues with admin. and the like but more the typical things you would expect to run into almost anywhere.
5/17/2006parentOur children have attended Prestwood School since 1995, and we as parents have been very satisfied with the leadership, teaching and facilities. Prestwood feels more like a private school because of the parent involvement and support.
3/21/2006parentWe are first time parents at Prestwood and could not be happier to this point. The beginning of the year was a bit concerning with some admninstrative changes and challenges, but once that all that was rectified it has been smooth sailing. Academic programs are extremely age appropriate, balanced and challenging when needed. Good incorporation of various learning techniques with a fun factor being built in. As all public schools have encounter these areas have experienced budget cuts but through alternate means and funding various extracurricular, music and art programs are provided. Excellent parent involvement at both the classroom as well as the larger school level.
10/26/2005parentI have lived in sonoma since 1977. Prestwood has always a great reputation so I was thrilled when my son got to attend this school. What I found when I got there was nothing but a bunch of snobs who think they can run this school. It's very, very sad. It's just like high school and I am, hoping to move to another school next year.
9/28/2005parentMy first child is now attending kindergarten at Prestwood. Before she started I was concerned about the level at which she would be taught, as we had already been working with reading and light math. Her teacher is wonderful. She not only teaches the basics, but adds in so much information about life so that even if my daughter knows how to read and spell cat, she will know much more about cats when the day is over. The computer exposure is amazing and above what I had initally expected. While we are still early on in our school experience, my husband and I are quite impressed with parent involvement and teacher interaction.
6/5/2005parentPrestwood is the best school in the sonoma valley. The teachers are wonderfull and the whole school is like one big happy family.
1/21/2005parentPrestwood School is a great school, I have two children here and one of them has a learning disability which has been very well adressed.
