| 9/17/2012 | parent | To the parent that posted the issue with the staff, it would help of you meant the teachers, counselors or school administration. Also, I would suggest to check the school's website, get the email to the principal and send her your concerns. It would not be fair to give the school a low rating when the issue has to do with the administration and not the teaching or the curriculum. Everyone else has given the school five starts, me included. |
| 9/16/2012 | student | Many of the staff here seems unhappy, unhelpful, disinterested, and downright angry and rude. Not all, of course, but quite a few. The staff need to get it together and realize that they are making the school look bad and unappealing to present and future potential students. Some teachers are outstanding, others downright make me wonder how they can get, muchless keep a job!! |
| 12/24/2011 | parent | My son is going to graduate in 2012. We had doubt when my son told us he was interested to apply to this school because we were not sure he was mature enough to go to this kind of school. He fits in well and we are proud of him. This is not the type of high school for any kids. One thing for sure, they will be ready for work or college after graduation. |
| 7/2/2011 | parent | They were really removed? I am very involved with McFatter. My middle son graduated in 2011 and was at that prom with the non-traditional Prom Queen and King and I am very proud that he voted for them. I also know the Prom Queen personally and love her dearly. I am going to go over there and ask why and what is going to be done about this. My eldest son also graduated in 2009 and my daughter will be graduating in 2012. This is a wonderful school and should be recongnized as such. |
| 10/14/2010 | student | I don't really understand what this poster meant about "once the tuition was paid..." McFatter is a public high school. Any one that livesc south of Sunrise Blvd can apply. There is no tuition. Selection is based on a lottery and FCAT scores (usually from 7th grade as you apply for enrollment in 8th grade and your 8th grade scores are not yet in). There are a diverse group of kids. With only about 150 students per class, the teacher /student ratio is lower than most high schools. McFatter has consistently been rated an A school every year since 2003. No other Broward public high school can claim that. They must be doing something right! |
| 7/4/2010 | parent | Teachers and staff are very helpful, insightful and involved. Excellent curriculum, great opportunity to develop technical skills in a major while obtaining a high school diplomas. Classes are challenging with core classes honor or AP only. Small classes, engaged teachers. |
| 4/20/2010 | parent | The school is more concerned with the money they collect than education. the conditions regarding enrollment were paid for by a grant so this reviewer did not have any financial issues. simply, several circumstances made it very easy to determine that once the tuition was paid any concern for the student disappeared. |
| 4/13/2010 | student | I hated it, i was a student last year and it sucked, they pick your classes for you, they have no football or basketball yet alone any sport, it has like 500 students , you see the same people every day. it made me feel like i was in an elementary school because you have the same people in every class. I hated it there, oh and also i lived in pembroke pines and it took my bus like an hour to get to school. |
| 8/6/2009 | parent | Mcfatter is a wonderful school. My son graduated in 2009 and got accepted at one of the top university in florida. It was a rigorous 4 yrs but he was ready for the challenge. It's been a great experience for him. |
| 9/1/2008 | parent | I have been involved with this school for over eight years now. Both my kids have attended. All their friends are diverse smart intelligent fun kids from all kinds of different backgrounds and upbringings. The tech programs far outweigh the sports and band experience! There are several clubs. It is a awesome school with teachers who all mostly want to see your kids succeed! Even since graduating all the mcfatter kids are still friends. |
| 8/16/2008 | parent | McFatter is an excellent high school. The student to teacher ratio is exceptional for any high school in the nation. The teachers here are also some of the best in the state. The Math, computer science and physics classes are exceptional. |
| 6/15/2008 | student | This school is really good, but it sucks that there are no sports or a band. A very big upgrade with extracurricular activities is most definitely needed! |
| 3/1/2008 | student | This school has a amazing academic program that provides oppurtunities for students that almost all schools do not. They have wonderful programms in different fields that provide hands on learning, education, and experience that you would expect a college to provide. Yeah it's that amazing. But a big problem with the school is that they have no sports and not many clubs and other extracurricular activities you would get at a larger public school. If you do not care about those things and academics is all your focused on this school would be like an Ivy League School to you. |
| 2/11/2008 | student | I think this school is very amazing ! |
| 9/26/2007 | parent | McFatter is an exceptional high school. They have over 10 magnets within the school. |
| 9/5/2007 | student | Really great teachers who know how to make work interesting.Small class sizes.Great foodD!Nice campus. They could improve on their extracurricular activities such as sports and clubs.Bus system really needs some correcitons! The bus routine could definately go alot smoother if they had their own buses and students wouldnt have to be shipped to nova high to look for there bus among a huge group of high school, middle, and elementary students and a ton of buses to look at just to find yours.Other than that its a really great school. |
| 5/2/2007 | parent | For the most part the school has a very high quality student and teacher body. Teacher truly care about the students. A number of student from this school have been accepted in such prestigious Universities as MIT and Georgetown. The only downside is the little exposure to extracurricular activities such as sports, and clubs usually available in biggest high schools. |
