3/28/2009parentmy chuld has been at crab orchard for two years now and im really glad she is in a good school. i graduted from there too.
9/6/2007parentI am a parent of two kids that attend the Crab Orchard Elementary school. I think that last years PTO did good things for the school and have many more good ideas and goals to strive for in the upcoming year. Meanwhile, I don't think that there is enough parent participation through out the school. It is the same parents all of the time, and they all wish that new faces would be willing to jump in and help whenever possible. Most of the teachers are okay, some need to work on there communication skills!!! I think that the school should check into a different math book. The saxon math books can be confusing and difficult at times especially as they get into algebra 1 and 2. I think that the school needs to push academics as much as they push sports and extra curricular activities. Always room for improvement!!!
11/14/2006parentI went to CO and so did my son, now my daughter goes to CO. Every school has it's pro's and con's, but in my opinion CO is one of the best schools around. They have smaller classes compared to Marion. The teachers know you by name as well as your siblings and more than likely your parents. And as far as the work goes, they do a great job in teaching our kids, the principal is wonderful he really cares about the welfare of all the students.
3/28/2006teacherTeachers at Crab Orchard Elementary School strive for excellence in all areas. The Accelerated Reader program is incorporated into the curriculum, and reading levels have increased as a result. We have an excellent vocal music program, art program and offer a variety of sports for both boys and girls. Parents are encouraged to participate both inside and outside the classroom. The PTO raises thousands of dollars each year for activities and equipment for the school.
4/11/2005former studentClass sizes are too large. While some teachers are excellent, At the secondary level, many subjects are not taught. In comparison to larger neighboring schools, extracurricular activities available for students are limited. Taxes are higher, but the school offers taxpayers' children less.
6/24/2004parentMy Daughter Loves Crab Orchard School,The Principal Is A Very Nice Man.The Teachers And Staff Are Wonderful. If You Ever Have A Problem Someone Is Always There To Help.I Think Crab Is The Best School Around
4/16/2004parentco is a wonderful school for my children. people do not realize what they are asking for when they say they want to consolidate with marion. here we know everyone or know somebody who does the teachers are more likely to know you personally instead being just a student. those trying to get the principle fired would not be satisfied no matter who the principle was. those who don't like things the way they are need to go to marion. especially those who don't live in the district anyway. (you know who you are) they complain about everything and make a big deal over nothing you are not satisfied unless there is caos. to those of you not satisfied leave
3/24/2004parentCrab Orchard needs to consolidate with the Marion schools. This would give the kids more opportunities.
6/14/2003 This Principal is very negative. He will not speak to the mothers only to fathers. He also does not like it when parents call the school to report negative activities. One day he has my honor roll daughters on a bully list then 1 week later he is giving them awards for outstnding behavior.
