| 2/27/2011 | student | As a student at this school I've watched and observed how everything works. It seems to be more of a social gathering rather than a place of learning. Though some teachers are very good at their jobs, alot of others in all honesty, should either go back for some better training or be fired. I don't feel I am being challenged and from the first day of freshman year I and my peers have been babied and given an easy ride, even through honors programs. It's infested with inappropriate behavior, drugs, and unnecassary drama. It is most definately not a school I would wish any person to attend. |
| 12/18/2010 | parent | I is a gardute of this skool and I think they learned me well. specially in spelln. Actually I wouldnt send my kids to this school if it were the last school in the country. nepotism and ignorance is all they would learn. Link |
| 12/7/2008 | other | I am am and east carter alumni and east carter has an excellent agriculture department Mr. Kenny Brammel is a great teacher and does a good job of getting the students involved in extracurricular activities and is a good role-model as well as a good asset to the school and the community |
| 8/3/2008 | student | As a current student at this high school, i wouldnt think twice of coming here if i didnt have to. I would much prefer go to West Carter High School. The teachers do get attached to the students and half of the teachers show irrelevant videos and let the students do whatever they want as long as the students dont bother them. they do not prepare the children for college. Your child would still need a tutor espesially in math.... |
| 1/19/2008 | student | I am a curent student at East Carter High School. As for the belief that East Carter is underachieving in its ability to prepare student for college and beyond, this is not the case. I will admit that past administrations failed their students, parents, and employees. However, currently the Principal at the school is doing everything he can to undo the preconcieved notions about our school. He is trying his best to make east Carter one of the finest schools in the state. Our state test scores have improved drastically in the past few years. Thequality of education at the school has also improved. I would highly reccomend East Carter as a quality school. |
| 3/27/2007 | parent | As a parent of three children who graduated from this school, I can readily see that they were not adequately prepared for college even though they were at the very top of their classes. Except for biology, their classes did not progress at a proper academic level through the year. Many times they were shown an unrelated or slightly related movie or were allowed to play cards or games during class time. Academic teams were cancelled half way through the year and the kids were told there was not enough interest to continue. My child was extremely disappointed and felt very unsupported by the staff and administration. We asked for more advanced classes, such as AP classes, and were told they were too hard for Carter County students and the administration felt there was no need to offer them. I wish my kids had gone elsewhere. |
| 9/30/2006 | parent | I was very impressed about the caring teachers, my child loves the teachers at this school, I had a recent concern with reading for my child and I contacted the special education dept and was very impressed about the promptness, and assistance my child received. |
