| 4/20/2008 | parent | Overall it is a wonderful place to have typically developing kids! Teachers are wonderful. I am however a little concerned with the special education program as I feel they lack structure, good teaching strategies and level appropriate lessons. As a parent of one of these students, I fear that sometimes my child's needs are overlooked and he is either thrown into a group with students at a different level, or pushed aside to deal with students who have other needs. I also feel that because of how wonderfully the typically developing students learn and behave, that many grade level teachers have little patience with those students who need a little extra assistance. I even wonder if all kids in special ed really have trouble or if they just aren't advanced like so many of the other kids. Administration seems under-educated on how to productively deal with kids with special needs! |
| 10/25/2007 | parent | This is an excellent school. It has an excellent arts program. Parents are really involved at Sheridan. |
| 4/1/2006 | parent | Sheridan is a wonderful smaller elementary in the middle of an middle-upper class neighborhood with older homes. Parent involvement is very high and the amount of fundraising and student activities is great because of this. ie- bike rodeo, fun night, etc. Academically it is a very good school with higher test scores than most schools in the area. Principal, Mrs. Kanter, is wonderful, involved, and knows the kids by name. Very few troublesome kids here. Mostly good kids from good homes. Would highly recommend. |
| 8/10/2003 | parent | This is a wonderful school! The principal, Mrs. Kanter, is very involved in the school and knows most parents and children by their first names. There are wonderful teachers in each grade. It is a smaller school and feels very safe and easy to find your way around. (Something I worried about when my young children started after we'd just moved into Lincoln.) We also really enjoy the foreign language classes offered before school. (for a small fee, but well worth it.)Before signing them up at Sheridan I called Lincoln Public Schools and asked for a list of all the test scores for elementary schools in the south area. Sheridan had the best! I would highly recommend Sheridan to anyone searching for a school here. |
