| 5/11/2009 | student | I don't think it's fair to rate a school on a range of one to five stars. Mineral County High School has it's problems, yes. As one of the poorest counties in the state in Nevada, MCHS struggles both to create a budget to best benefit its students and to deal with those sutdents that are struggling with a tough home life. I am currently finishing my Junior year at MCHS, and I can honestly say that I couldn't imagine being anywhere else. I know this school inside and out, and I also know that it does the best for what it's offered. You can't blame a school for undiciplined students. You can't blame unmotivated teachers for being worn out to the point of apathy. If anything, you can only blame yourself for not doing your job as a parent to raise children that act properly. |

| 6/4/2008 | other | Since this school had a change of staff in 2007, it really turned around! The first thing the new priciple was is laid down the law and suspended the kids. He is working on the parent involvement and after his track record of turning worse school around I think Hawthorn should be greatful they got this man! |

It lacks discipline and most of the teachers are lacking in vision as well as motivation. I do not totally blame the teachers though. The students, both good and bad, are thrown into a quagmire of sporadic education and discipline problems. The school is a big mess. |
