| 1/19/2010 | parent | This school is a major mixed bag. Kindergarden was amazing for my son who has ADHD. Miss Sweet and Miss McCormick were phenominal. They turned my son around completely with a positive attitude and an approach that gave us great confidence that our son was in good hands. This year, a complete reversal. Administrators and teachers who have the typical 'union' mentality and an unwillingness to do anything accomodating. My son , I fear, is being damaged by the experience. The experience is only as good as the talent. Unfortunately, we didn't get lucky this year although my tax dollars continue to be funnelled to their wages, absolute job security, benefits, and hours that are unyeilding even if it is for an important meeting to discuss my child's mental well-being. Stay on top of your teachers especially if you have a special needs child. |

| 4/1/2008 | parent | This school is the best by far. My on loves his friends, teachers, and the staff. They're great! I, myself love the staff at this school. The principal is phenomenal! |
| 10/2/2005 | parent | This is definitely the funnest elementary school in the district. The staff, from the custodian to the principal, are warm, friendly, lively, and just plain 'ol smart people. They have a gift for helping your child learn: the 'seasoned' teachers have been able to take an already wonderful curriculum and make it their own. Their enthusiasm should inspire any parent to get envolved in any of the volunteer programs available there. The SFA reading facilitator is the absolute best. She has a real passion for learning and it shows in how patient and unjudgemental and caring she is with our children. Love ya, Mrs. Lenora Beale. By the end of second grade your child will be ready and excited about entering their sister school West End. |
| 8/15/2004 | parent | Absolutely the best school in Long Branch by far! The principal is amazing, the staff super friendly (except for the secretaries). The curriculum and the wonderful family friendly environment together equal a successful and supportive place for any child. I highly reccommend this school! |
| 3/31/2004 | administrator | The Long Branch Public Schools have done a magnificent job of raising student performance as a result of Whole School Reform. Long Branch is one of 30 at-risk 'Abbott' districts in the state of New Jersey. The success story in Long Branch begins at the elementary level as documented by student achievement in the state assessments. Facts, not opinion: In the spring of 1999, prior to the implementation of the Whole School Reform model Success for All, 33.9% of Long Branch general ed. (not incl. Sp. Ed. & LEP) 4th graders passed the ESPA Language Arts Literacy subtest. In just three years, by the 2002 ESPA administration, 71.2% of the 4th graders passed this test, an increase of 38.3%. Long Branch narrowed the gap to the state average by 13.7% in that time. The math passing rate increased from 35.9% to 55.5% in those years. See Department of Education website. |
