| 1/19/2011 | parent | Our child loves this school! When we drop him off in the morning, we feel confident we are leaving our child in good hands. After looking at a number of other schools in the area, we finally settled on Wilberforce because we felt that it would provide a challenging academic environment for our child. The teachers and staff are very kind, highly qualified and clearly care for every student. The school principal and management are second to none! |
| 1/17/2011 | parent | This school is a gem. Amazing teachers, curriculum, and leadership; small class sizes; rigorous academics; high expectations for behavioral and academic discipline (yet they all look like they're having fun!); a sincere, nonsectarian Christian perspective that pervades everything, from the classroom time to playground time. My children love it here and are thriving. Parents are very involved (and we've met many great people through the school), and the teachers genuinely care about the children. Some unique aspects: nature studies (class nature walks; children encouraged to sketch and observe the natural world); huge focus on reading strong literature, both individually and as a family; journaling; Latin studies starting in 3rd grade; interesting after-school clubs offered, including strategic board games, knitting, and fencing; upper classes take courses in formal logic and rhetoric. |
| 5/17/2010 | parent | We can't think of a better school for our children! We've been at this school for 4 1/2 years. Academically, the school has encouraged our children to read rich books, to be creative, to think carefully. Each year, the teachers have taken the time to get to know our children and have worked with us to challenge them academically and to help them develop good habits. What we most appreciate is the Christ-honoring environment, which reinforces what we teach at home. |
| 4/15/2010 | parent | No square pegs allowed. This school is excellent in many respects, but is not especially tolerant of quirky, or more independent-thinking children. There is a rigidity in the school culture that starts at the top and is reflected in policies and practices throughout the ranks. The teachers, lovely people almost without exception, are largely young and relatively inexperienced, as the school recruits faculty from among spouses of graduate students and seminarians. As a result, the turnover among the faculty is very high. The school's disciplinary policies are firmly rooted in the nineteenth century, with little attempt to teach problem-solving skills. If your child is naturally compliant, doesn't mind a sedentary environment, and is not especially creative, this school might be perfect for you. It is excellent academically, and reinforces the teachings and philosophies of committed Christian families. |
| 3/3/2010 | parent | OUTSTANDING Christian education which targets both the child's heart and mind; high integrity, amazing staff and attention to students; loving, joyful environment; truly EXCELLENT education that is one grade level ahead (as proven by test scores) and fosters the love of learning. My children love the school, we love everything the school stands for and how it has executes is philosophy. The administration of this relatively new school has achieved so much, it's amazing! |
| 8/10/2009 | parent | The Wilbeforce School is superb. The philosophy, academic content and class make-up contribute to the unique success of this school. My children love attending the school and I would encourage every Christian parent to consider a Wilbeforce education for their young student. |
