| 10/12/2010 | parent | good teachers - old building - but kids are the highest concern of all at this school |
| 6/8/2010 | parent | wonderful school wonderful staff overall great atmosphere. The principal s very involved you can tell she does it because she loves it. My child learned so much this year. They truly care and it shows |
| 6/9/2009 | parent | When we first moved to the Charlotte area I was a little weary of my daughter attending Steele Creek. It was an older school and seemed to be overcrowded. What I found however, is a school where every employee seems to care. It seems as though every teacher knows my childs name and that is important being that they are considered as being overcrowded. Our district has changed and next year we will be at Berewick Elementary... I am excited about the change but will miss Steele Creek! |
| 4/1/2009 | parent | I really like this school.I feel that they are very much involved with the students at this school. The staff and PTA is always doing something for the students. They have CI-CI'S pizza night,Chick-fil-A night, and math fun night for the kids.Which the kids and parents that are involved enjoy. My daughters teacher is great. So, I really do not know what all the negativity is about. |
| 3/31/2009 | parent | My son loves going to school and loves his teacher this year. He is very happy with the friends he's made since our move here, and loves the gym and music programs at the school. His teachers are very dedicated and the principal is very caring. I'm not happy with the pace of his education, as he was learning a lot more in our former state, but the teachers are not to blame for that. His class is also very big. Shouldn't there be a cap of 22 students? He has 26 in his class. I think the school would function better if they separated the classes by levels of student aptitude. |
| 3/13/2009 | parent | I think the principal of Steel Creek Elementary is rude and very unprofessional. |
| 3/1/2009 | parent | Steele Creek is an awesome school with terrific teachers. I have a kindergartener there and have been over pleased with his growth. The principal is awesome at dealing with issues and very involved. The teacher is very concerned with the child as a whole and keeps the families informed. I have had a couple issues with the office staff but that is totally unrelated with the quality and caliber of my child's education. Love this school. |
| 2/28/2009 | teacher | Perhaps the teacher that review this school did not have the nescessary skills to be successful as a teacher in general. I teach at this school, and couldn't be happier. While we are a very large school, we are also a very strong school. Our leadership is amazing and our students all made high growth last year. This means that they exceeded the state expectations for growth. The school is full of teachers who are not there for paychecks, but are there because we care about each student in our classroom and the success they will have. It is a shame that the teacher in the previous review made such an opinion in only two days of working. I am glad they don't work at my school with me- we require a high caliber of teachers! |
| 11/19/2008 | teacher | This school is horrible. It is to over crowded. There are to many kids in one class room for a teacher to handle. The principle is very unhelpful. And there is no parent involvment at all. I am a teacher at this school and I had to quit the 2nd day. Please, if you want your children to have a good education do no send them to this school. |
| 9/18/2008 | parent | As a parent that is highly involved I feel that the message from an anonymous teacher posted Sept. 12 , 2008 was very unsettling. I know the overcrowding issues are at Steele Creek Elementary but know that the newer Elementary schools are forced into 'trailers' within the first year. Please, anonymous teacher elaborate because I would like to know if the overcrowding/trailers are detrimental to my student there. I know the obvious delays but need to know if it's time to move. I have been in the community for 26 yrs. and raised one child with Steele Creek Elementary that is successful now. I want my other child to succeed as well. I would like to hear from the inside source! Thank you! A concerned parent |
| 8/30/2008 | teacher | I am very happy to work at Steele Creek. The leadership is excellent, the students are happy, and teaching resources are unlimited. I am extremely surprised by the last review! |
| 1/3/2008 | parent | They have good teachers, but extremely over crowded, and very low marks on field trips. However, my daughter does have a excellent teacher. I'm sure she could be even better, if she had more resources, too help with! I hope with the passing of the grants for schools that, the over crowding, and trailers will change. So, I had too give this school a three because of the over crowding, and lack of extra activities outside of the classroom. |
| 11/23/2007 | parent | Although the school is overcrowded because of all of the mobile classrooms, the teachers are very good. My daughter's teacher is wonderful. With the passage of the bond, the school will have a reduction in size in the next 2 years. |
| 9/12/2007 | teacher | Extreme overcrowding. There are more learning trailers than there are classrooms. It's shame because our staff is top notch. Our principal is well-organized and extremely effective. The lack of resources from the district makes the act of learning counter-productive. The district needs to wake up and revamp. Our staff's talents are going to waste because they are lacking the space and resources necessary for learning to take place. |
| 1/26/2007 | parent | This school is over-crowded. Very limited in extra activities. Lack of parent involvement. |
