8/20/2012parentI have had a mixed experience at the school. On one hand my girls have had great teachers. However, my sons first grade year was a distaster. The teacher was rude and yelled at many of the children. I learned they had many parents complain but little was done. She is still there and I think her presence is an insult to the great teachers who deserve the spotlight.
7/13/2012parentWe are thrilled with St. Andrews. My children's teachers have all been top-notch, including the SAIL and special area teachers. And the front office staff are consistently welcoming and friendly. We are looking forward to the new state-of-the art building that is coming. I love that it is a partial magnet, bringing together both neighborhood children and children from throughout the district - this helps promote tolerance and diversity. The Math and science focus allows for futher exploration and rigor in these areas and across the curriculum. I highly recommend this school to prospective families.
3/26/2012parentI have to agree about how disappointed i am about this school. Any child is accepted in this school and it amazing me how many children attend this school. This is my child's second year here, I absolutely love his teacher , she is the absolutely the best, however i believe that my child has been exposed to bullying, inappropriate touching and language. This will be the last year that my child attends this school since their seems to be a lot of troubled students that attend this school..
1/21/2012parentMy child attends SASMS. I am extremely dissappointed in this school. They scream at the children. They are not caring and nurturing at ALL! They cram so many students( more than ccsd allows, I checked), and they have the rudest front staff ever! I had heard so many good things about this school, and was excited when I was contacted for my child to test. I wish I had NEVER accepted! All of the good reviews on here is baffling to me! Maybe they got a better teacher. I have heard that there are a few of those. My child LOVED school and now begs not to go each day. I am so unsatisfied and furious at how I do not feel informed and how I have to ask everything. I am very active in my childs education and feel at times I anger the teachers and staff because I want my child to succeed! I will be going to another school!!! Please do not send your child here. I am not overreacting, it is terrible!
1/26/2010parentMy daughter is in the fourth grade and we just moved to the Charleston area. She first attended Oakland, and we found out quickly that it was not the environment for her. Fortunately I did my research and found SASMS! Before my daughter was even attending the school, the principal and front office staff was amazing. Now my daughter is thriving, being challenged, and enjoying her new school. I would recommend this school to anyone serious about education.
5/25/2009parentAfter living overseas for many years, my child has had several experiences in international schools and I must say that her experience at St Andrews surpasses all of my expectations. Friendly, competent, caring staff and a very active community make for the perfect environment for my child's education. Great diversity and a wide variety of backgrounds represent the other children at the school making for great life experiences for my daughter.
6/18/2008parentMy nephew attended SASMS for kindergarden and I was very please with his advancement in knowledge and understanding. His teacher took time with him and the school diversity is wonderful. The most important thing I love about this school is that it challenges and it has the resources to assist in the challenges as well. Thank you SASMS, keep up the excellent work you are doing ! 6/21/2007parentMy daughter attended the Child Development Program for 4 year olds and even at that age she has learned a lot at SASMS. I just wish that the program was all day long instead of half a day, because I could just imagine how much more she could have learned. I am so amazed how much she has grown academically and at such a young age. I highly recommend SASMS for any parent just entering their 4 year old to school.
6/5/2007parentMy daughter had a great experience when we moved here this year after a year in rural Pennsylvania and prior to that several years in Canada, this school was welcoming, academically challenging and accomodating of her IEP.
2/28/2007parentYou couldn't ask for a better school than St. Andrews! I pulled my children from a private school to attend here and haven't looked back. The principal, teachers, parents....all are involved and really care. Wonderful school; excellent education...there are not enough words to say how proud I am that my children attend here.
9/19/2006parentMy 2 children didn't begin there school experience at St. Andrews. When they began there, I was astounded at the parent involvement. The administration, faculty and staff make you feel welcome. The education they are receiving is above average. I am pleased with everything about the school. Keep up the good work SASMA!
2/14/2006parentMy family and I receintly moved to N.C.,our children attended St.Andrews Elementary and we miss the school alot. The teachers and staff were wonderful,we were treated like family.Parents are always welcome into the school, and they always great you by name.My son is in the first grade and all his teacher talks about is how advanced he is ,he learned so much at St.Andrews.My daughter is in the fourth and she gives her teacher now alot of ideas she's learned from SASMAS.The class sizes are small so the children have more one on one time with the teacher. My children write letters back and forth with their old teachers now and it has made their move so easy. Thanks St.Andrews Elementary!
12/20/2005parentSt. Andrew's may not be the nicest looking or new built school in the LowCountry, but it's what happens inside that counts. The teachers are very professional and nice The office staff and Principle are fantastic. Like any school public or private, it comes down to how much you work with your kids and work with the school (teachers and principle). What the parents put in they will get back in education for their children. St. Andrew's is the best of public and private schools. A true diversified student makeup that matches what our children will have to deal with in the real world.
5/24/2004parentI have two children attending (5th & 3rd) St. Andrews. I feel this is the most motivating and wonderful school. My children are getting an excellent and well-rounded education. They have the most caring teachers there. I will always recommend this school to parents who want a balance between a public school's exposure to diversity and a private school education. I couldn't have picked a better school.
