7/22/2010parentmy child went here for a VERY short amount of time and she was bullied and humiliated and the lunch was sometimes ROTTEN , rumors went around and made her and her only nice friend disappear , the kids are very disrespectful i would not let another child i ever loved go through the pain that she went through
7/21/2008parentThis is a WONDERFUL SCHOOL. The faclty love the students and treat them with respect. Bothof my girls go to this school and they are excelled in all their studies. Great school.
5/27/2007parentThis is a great school. Teachers REALLY care about their students and will take any measures to ensure their success.
4/13/2006parentI love this school. My daughter is in Pre-k and she is learnign so much. I live on Fort Hood and i will keep her in this schoo.
3/27/2006parentI love this school. Teachers and the rest of the staff do a great job. The cafeteria is the only thing that needs improvement.
2/12/2006parentHonestly I don't have a whole lot of issues with H. Halstead, but we've only been there for PK and K. I am a little frustrated with the lack of gifted education opportunities for younger children; there are none for PK and K testing starts in January with the proragm beginning in March. The campus has some issues, though most are cosmetic. It is a little concerning that dogs are often allowed on campus (admittedly on a leash). Menus for lunch and breakfast are definately high on carbs and a bit high on sugar, but they are gretting more diverse. PE seems low on the totem pole making me wonder if they meet the required minimum for TX standards.
10/24/2005parentWas not very fond of the staff at this school. They really weren't very friendly and it seemed like they had a few safety issues.
11/29/2004parentMy child has been attending Halstead for two years. I am extremely happy with the quality of education my child is receiving. The faculty and staff are awesome. It has a very friendly environment and my child can't wait to get up each morning to go to school. The teachers do an outstanding job in making school a positive place to be. Parents are encouraged to play a role in their children's education and are made to feel welcomed when visiting the school. Lots of extracurricular activities are available for the students to participate in as well as homework club and after school tutoring. I am glad that my child will be able to continue his education at Halstead through fourth grade.
8/30/2004parentMy children have been in this school for four years now. The teachers have been wonderful and understanding. The support staff and administration have something to be desired. The new principle has done the bare minium job that he has to do to get a pay check. All of the PTO programs and fundraisers have been discontinued because he does not want o go the extra mile. In order to get a child tested for a learning problem you have to go over the counslor head to someone else and usually it has to be directly to the district. All of the positve has gone out of this school when Mr. Howell retired. School is no longer an enjoyable place for parents to visit or students to attend!
3/11/2004parentMy children have been going to this school for 4 years. They are the best. The teachers go above and beyond the call of duty to help their children.
9/9/2003parentI had kids here at Halstead now for the last past four years and I have to say I love this school and its teachers and have to say they are the most military friendliest school that we had children at. They helped me and understood when we had to go on emergency leave. And worked out a plan to keep our kids up to date on there school work. Of cource all the kids and parents will miss Mr.Howell the old principal. I don't know the new principal well but I am sure Mr. Brown he will do a good job.
8/10/2003parentWe are a military family my son went to 2 schools before this one.i think this school is good, good teachers, good classes but i just have one problem the safety.at 3p.m every kid run over the place they need more discipline at that hour.
