9/26/2010teacherOne of the most reflective schools in the district of todays varied society. The most dedicated staff many of whom have stayed at the school for 10 + years
5/29/2009parentMy daughter is in the momd program which is a progrm for disabiled children . I have feeling that the teacher treats my child as teacher's pet because she is a quite girl with little to no problem of disaplain. I have into the room on occosions and most of the teens are loud. This is why I feel the way I do. But on the other hand my child does pretty good in class. she does not get grades because of being on an IEP. so I can't really grasp what thing of learning she really is getting so if she's happy I'm happy.
5/9/2007parentMy daughter loved LCB and had a great experience there. There were lots of activities, great school spirit, and some really top notch teachers. Her teachers and counselors were generally very supportive and really showed an interest in helping her develop her academic and leadership skills. Ultimately, she received full scholarship offers, some through competitions, from some extremely competitive colleges. My daughter worked hard of course, but LCB also helped nurture her talent with supportive administrators and caring faculty members. Hopefully, those qualities have remained the same since she graduated.
3/27/2007parentBoth of my Teens attended Bird. We have had a wonderful experience and my kids enjoyed every day with all they had to offer. The Engineering program is wonderful
8/2/2006parentMy daughter is a rising sophmore at LCB and her first year attending the school was nothing short of amazing. She was very happy with the school and has come very far. She made the wonderful Girls Show Choir and has been involved in many various activities at the school. The principal is amazing and the teachers are very helpful. Bird is the kind of school I wish I had had the chance to go to.
9/25/2005former studentI am a Bird alumni and so is my son. From the perspective of being both a student and a parent in the same school I have to say that Bird owes its success to dedicated teachers like Margaret Hicks and Steven Cormier, they were great when I went to Bird and I was so very happy that my son had the chance to experience them both as teachers in the class as well as ordinary people when they went to Italy for spring break. All schools have their problems, but I believe that Bird is a fine example of a public school and I wouldn't hesitate to send another child there in the future.
12/3/2004parentI have had 2 children to graduate from Bird and go on to College. My youngest son is now a 10th grader at Bird. I really like the instructional set up of the school as well as the closeness of the students and faculty. They are extremely personalable and once they know your name, they greet you by your name each time you are in their presence. I like the values they embrace and their willingness to work with parents and students to come to a happy medium when necessary. Having spent many hours volunteering at the school, I have had an opportunity to see both the formal side and the 'light' side of some of the faculty and they truly cherish and appreciate the students who attend Bird High School. Go Skyhawks!
2/23/2004parentMy daughter attended this school and while having emotional problems, the school expelled her as the way to handle the problem. She overcame this and today is a social worker helping troubled teens. Bird High needs to work with students having problems and recognize that this is not a perfect world.
2/23/2004parentThis school offers a broad base and very heterogeneous mix of kids - it is not as 'clickish' as some other schools. The teachers for the most part are very dedicated and seem to really care about your child reaching his or her potential. My children have throughly enjoyed their time there and have been involved in sports, drama, and other activities and loved all of them.
8/10/2003parentMost teachers at this school are great; the principal and guidance counselors, however, are not. They lack in quality and concern for any student facing problems. Some may say that that is not their job, and that they should only be concerned in getting your child to college. But what about the obstacles that prevent that child from getting there. There is also a great lack for communication between the principal and guidance counselors to the teachers.
