6/11/2012teacherWhat kind of person gives a school which is in the top 1% academically a 1 star rating because the kids are not interested in the marching band or finger painting? Go figure.
6/3/2012parentGreat AP program, needs to improve on band (district wide problem). Social studies dept is top notch as is the science and math depts.
8/28/2010otherThe academic curriculum is obviously focus on teaching to take a standardized test and little else. There is essentially no music or arts instruction.
9/11/2009parentI think the Science Department and its instructors are the top of the line. My child never enjoyed science until he started at GHS. He loves the AP classes and now plans on studying medicine. Thanks to MS Arthur and her staff, he now has a future
5/27/2009teacherAmong the Honor's and AP programs are some of the finest teachers you will find anywhere. Standouts include the math program (3 gifted teachers), the history program (2 gifted teachers), the English program (4 outstanding teachers) and the science program with 2 exceptional instructors. The overall discipline in the school could use some improvement, but considering the near Title 1 status of the student body and the exceptionally high SOL scores which the student body wracks up year after year, it is obvious that there is an exceptional teaching staff in place and at work. With regard to the discipline problems, these seem to originate more from a lack of support from the Central Office of the county than from the leadership of the school.
10/1/2004parentVery poor supervision, children mimic lack of reasoning skills as presented by senior office staff's inability to make thought provoking decisions on case by case basis per student. Serious skills need to be invested with funds for an overhall.
