The Tucson Mountains are located in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona and have a hot, dry climate. Summers are typically very hot, with temperatures often reaching above 100°F (38°C). Winters are milder with daytime temperatures usually hovering around 70°F (21°C). The area gets very little rainfall during the year, averaging only about 10 inches (25 cm) per year. Despite the arid climate, the mountain range is home to a variety of wildlife and vegetation that can tolerate this environment, including cacti, lizards, jackrabbits, coyotes and more.
