Retired here a year ago, what a great place. We have lived in the country and in the city in 5 different states and another country and this is the best deal you will find anywhere. The good life - 7/15/2008
My wife and I have lived in another country and five different states in the USA. We have now lived in this area for a year and love it more every day.We have retired here after a lot of reaserch on SPERLINGS. We spent five months driving to various areas and small towns in the south before settling here.We could not have done better, what a beautiful area over 900 miles of shoreline on Lake Guntersville which dominates the area in fishing and recreation. The downtown surrounded on three sides by water is very quaint and very frendly. In general the entire Marshall County is just a wonderful place with outstanding schools and athletic programs.Housing is very inexpensive and if you are over 65 there are no real estate taxes , try to find that anywhere
