History - 12/3/2008
Phil Campbell was named after a railroad man named Philip Campbell, who agreed to run the railroad thur this small community, if the town would name it after him. The three merchants agreed, and the town of Phil Campbell was established in the early 1900's. It now has a junior college, three traffic lights, two policemen, and a piggly wiggly. The Dismals Canyon is on the outskirts of PC, and was used by the Discovery Channel several years ago to film the movie "When Dinasors Roamed America". It is a beautiful place, where early Indians lived, and contains artifacts not found anywhere in the United States. People from all over the US gather at PC in July of each year, if their name is Phil Campbell, and there has been as many 25 people attend.
