What BestPlaces Users Say about Buckeye

Buckeye, Arizona is a rapidly growing city located in Maricopa County. It has a population of over 79,000 and is known for its affordable housing, sunny climate, and outdoor recreation options. As part of the Phoenix metropolitan area, Buckeye offers a suburban feel while still being close to big city amenities. In this particular place, many people have chosen to make it their home. Let's take a look at what some users have to say about living in Buckeye.

According to user reviews on BestPlaces.net, many residents of Buckeye praise the city for its affordability and friendly community. John H. shares, "Buckeye is a great place to live for those on a budget. The cost of living is lower than other cities in the Phoenix area and there are plenty of job opportunities." Another user, Sarah R., echoes this sentiment, stating "The people here are very welcoming and there's a real sense of community. It's a great place to raise a family." The affordable cost of living and sense of community are common themes among these reviews.

However, not all reviews are positive. Some users have expressed concerns about the city's rapid growth and resulting traffic. As Sharon B. puts it, "Buckeye has grown so much in the past few years, and with that comes more traffic and congestion. It's not the small town it used to be." Similarly, Robert P. states, "The traffic and commute times have become almost unbearable. It's definitely not the quiet, small town it used to be." These reviews highlight the potential downsides of Buckeye's rapid growth.

Despite the concerns about growth, many users appreciate the city's sunny weather and outdoor activities. As Emily W. shares, "I love living in Buckeye because there's always something to do outdoors. From hiking and biking to golfing and water sports, there's never a dull moment." The warm climate and abundance of outdoor recreation options make Buckeye an attractive place to live for those who enjoy an active lifestyle.

Overall, the user reviews on BestPlaces.net paint a picture of Buckeye as an affordable and friendly city with a strong sense of community. While some express concerns about the effects of rapid growth, many others appreciate the city's weather and outdoor activities. Unfriendly people in Buckeye! - 11/24/2010
We were astonish to find that some of the folks here in Buckeye AZ. are not so friendly! We thought people from a small town like this with not much going on, would have nice manners if nothing else. Boy were we wrong.
We have reached out to our neigbors, with fresh baked goods, we made to say hello, invited people to dinner, who never return the goodwill.
We wanted to be friends and good neighbors,But after a year and six months of trying, We haven't been offerd a cup of coffee or know our neighbors names. It is very sad that people are so unfriendly to new comers here.
The weather from May to Oct. is so hot, you have no choice but to stay locked up inside and having such unfriendly people around you, makes it hard to live here in Buckeye.
My hubby and I are nice respectful baby boomers who have lived in wonderful places throughout the United States and we have always enjoyed our
neighbors, friends and communties until now....

No independence - 11/20/2009
Here in Buckeye it is mandatory to have a car and if you have kids it's mandatory to have a nanny. This place do not have transportation the school is a 0.95 miles away so we can't get on the school bus, the kids are very bad and disrespectful. Food cost here is very, when I lived in NYC my budget was about $300 a month here it jump to $525 a month. You have more gravel sidewalks then paved sidewalks. Not for the unfit or someone like me with arthritis who have to depend on other people to drive me to the stores. To get a drivers license out here you have to go to about 3 different places to complete, they where to stupid to put it all in one building. We have a DMV but you can only register your car or do emission, ID, drivers test and license you have to go some where else in AZ to get it. Medical coverage out here is a joke I spend more money on buying over the counter then what they would cover. In short you need to be reach or have a very good pension and social security in order Read More

Smelly and Hot! - 7/31/2009
Buckeye is experiencing growth due to so many people moving into the Phoenix metro area, but it is not so great. To begin with if you are moving here to work in Phoenix and think that the low home price in Buckeye is a great deal you need to think about what you are sacrificing. There are not the same city services such as parks and libraries as there are in Phoenix and when you add in an hour commute to get into Phoenix it sucks. On top of that the temperature here is 3 or 4 degrees hotter than in Phoenix. That doesn't sound like much but when it's 115 degrees outside it makes a difference. Even with the explosive growth that is going on in Buckeye most of the area is undeveloped and smells like cow crap. We are moving out as soon as Read More

Tonopah Parks - 8/25/2008
This is to address the lack of Public Parks in Tonopah, as there isn't any. I couldn't find Tonopah listed in Arizona Cities?.
The schools are locked at school closing each day after school, and on weekends. There's absolutely no recreational facilities in the community! no Soccer, Baseball, or Football nothing for our kids. This needs to be addressed by Tonopah and Maricopa County. Read More

The Desert - 8/16/2008
As you would expect, the cost of water and sewage is 10 times higher than on the East Coast or Mid-west. Although there is the newest and largest nuclear power plant just down the street, APS continues to receive annual rate hikes - usually in July of each Read More

Hot weather - 8/20/2006
There are about 4 months in which the temperature is 100 or above which makes it uncomfortable. Winter days are great with no snow to shovel. You only have to wear your jacket in the morning because in the afternoon you can strip down to your T-shirt. We have a lot of neighbors have that go away in summer and come back in the winter. That's why we call them snow Read More

Nice place to live. - 3/25/2006
We have lived in Buckeye for 7 months. It used to be a sleepy farming town but now its one of the fastest growing areas in Arizona. The town of Buckeye encompasses a lot of area because there are lots of farms in this area. Sadly these farms are being sold out at an overwhelming rate because the farmers can get at least $45,000 an acre for their land.

The weather is beautiful here from October until May. Then, the temperatures can get up into the 100's and stay there until late September. In July we receive lots of humidity because the monsoon season starts. No one complains because we all like to see the rains come.

I can honestly say that I have never been so happy with a climate. Its the Read More
