What BestPlaces Users Say about Bullhead City

Bullhead City, Arizona is a small city located along the Colorado River in the northwestern part of the state. It is known for its warm climate, affordable cost of living, and outdoor recreational opportunities such as boating and fishing.

Bullhead City, Arizona has received mixed reviews from its residents. While many enjoy the warm weather and affordable cost of living, others have complained about the lack of job opportunities and high crime rates. According to John Smith, who has lived in Bullhead City for five years, "The weather is great and the people are friendly, but there just aren't enough jobs to go around." Another resident, Sarah Johnson, echoes this sentiment, stating that "there are limited job options and most people have to commute to nearby cities for work." On the other hand, some residents, like Mark Davis, appreciate the low cost of living in Bullhead City. He says, "I love living here because I can afford a nice home and still have money left over for leisure activities like boating on the river." However, not all reviews are positive. Mary Thompson expresses her concerns about the high crime rates in the city, saying, "I used to feel safe here, but in the past few years, there has been an increase in crime and it's starting to make me question my decision to live here." Overall, while Bullhead City may offer affordable living and a pleasant climate, it may not be the best fit for those seeking job opportunities and a low crime rate.

$Quality$of$Life - 7/21/2013
I have lived in Bullhead City off and on for about 3 years total. This time I am leaving and not coming back. The only quality of life here has to be bought. As long as you have money to gamble over in Laughlin, or money for expensive water or off road toys, you will have a good quality of life.

But if you are a middle class working person, don't even think of moving here. The only real employment available is in the Laughlin casinos. If you judge by work environment and pay, their people are slaves, not employees.

No night life, no arts or entertainment. Most people here could not afford them if they were available. However, if your idea of quality of life is working at a dead end job, 130 degree summers, and a 6 pack of generic beer, by all means move Read More

I will be retiring in Feb. of next year. I am married to a wonderful lady and have three dogs.I live in 30foot motorhome. Been looking for a cooler place to live that has water cause we love going out in our boat. Been looking at Grand Juction as a place to retire. Bullhead City is toooooo hot for us. We have been here for five years and the heat is getting to us. I would love to hear both good and bad about Grand Junction. We are not wine drinkers..we do not golf. Love the out doors and love to fish. Can e-mail me at any time and share some info. about the good and the bad of Grand Read More

Bullhead City Arizona is a Great Place to Live as - 8/8/2011
Bullhead City Arizona is a great place to live and work as long as you like an active lifestyle. It is like being on vacation every weekend. Living here now for 6 years and working as a Realtor I have seen many people come and go. The community and mayor are just the greatest and the people in the community are very active with the children and summer activities. On a Friday night you can pop over to the casinos for Buffet then walk it off with a drink and a river walk. Wake up Saturday morning and have breakfast at Earls by the River then hop on your jet ski at the park and spend the day on the colorado river. Run home for a shower and a night on the town since there is always something going on for free at the casinos. Read More

The Rumors are True... - 11/22/2010
That's right ladies and gentlemen, the rumors are true!

It's hot in Bullhead City, Arizona. Laughlin, Nevada is right across the Colorado River, and its hot there too!

However...

It is quite nice in the late Fall and Winter months and many, many out of towners come to the area to enjoy the weather.

There are bunches upon bunches of people that relocate for 3, 4, or even 6 months out of there year from all across the U.S. and Canada.

They come for Bullhead City's gentle winter months.

Summers are quite hot--but many people stay inside, play golf early in the mornings, and they enjoy the river as a way to cool off.

Plus, there is much more shopping and dining options now than every before.

Plus, do not forget that there is gaming and concerts available for your enjoy at the Hotel/Casinos just across the Colorado River in Laughlin, Nevada.

Visit the Bullhead City / Laughlin Area Today! - 11/22/2010
I want to encourage everyone who reads this to give this area a chance.

Many who have traveled to the Bullhead City / Laughlin area may have quite a different view of the area if they were to come back.

Many recognizable retail stores and popular restaurants have opened up shop in the area of the past couple of years.

The area is known for its great access to the Colorado River, Gaming, and the delightful weather in the Fall/Winter months.

Many visitors stay for 2, 3, 4 or even 6 months out of the year. These visitors are called "snowbirds" and come from all over the U.S and Canada. Many folks come to try their luck at gambling, take in the great shows that the casinos offer, enjoy dining on the river, or partake in fishing, jet skiing, and other water sports.

I encourage you to visit the area! There are many great real estate opportunities as well.

In fact, you can build a custom home in a beautiful Read More

Bullhead City/ Fort Mohave area is ok, but hot - 7/4/2010
It's ok here, if you can take the very hot summers. Cost of living is getting high, and the downside is not much shopping or dining opportunities. When we moved here, my husband's health was starting to fade. Now he is pretty much home bound and so that means I am too. No more trips to Vegas, which is 1 1/2 hous away, and that was what I looked forward to in the beginning. He cannot even go across the river to Laughlin now, so I wish we were in a bigger city now that his health has declined.I could make quick trips to the mall and not leave him alone very Read More

While checking the the climate for Bullhead City,az I see that you give it a comfort rating of 46 and across the river at Laughlin you have a comfort rating of 60???? how can that be? Air conditioning leakage from all the casinos?? The 46 seems about right for both Read More

A perfect place to live, retire or vacation. - 4/10/2007
This town has changed from dusty trailer town into Desert Oasis almost overnight! Bullhead City is a hidden treasure! I’m sure a lot of people will be retiring here once the word gets out. So much new development going on it’s hard to keep up with. I can’t think of any other place that has more things to do than here in Bullhead City.

Nice restaurants have been popping up all over, not to mention a brand new Sam’s Club, Home Depot, Lowe’s and a massive new hospital! It has everything and more, and it’s only an hour drive to Vegas, Lake Mede and the West Rim of the Grand Canyon with the new skywalk. Did I mention just a few hours to Southern California’s best places?

This is a desert environment and it does get hot. Ironically this is when the town is really busy because water sports are very popular here. Built right on the Colorado river across from Laughlin Nevada (I call it little Vegas) and Lake Mohave. Lake Mohave is a 64 mile long crystal clear lake! Read More

Backstab city is downright a gutter for people at - 10/12/2006
My mother lived in this town for years, and I decided to try it out. My" try" lasted a whole 4 months! There's got to be something in the water in this town! People are so bad! Teen pregnancy runs rampid, drug use is huge, and the traffic is hell (especially during winter months while the "snowbirds" are visiting. Did I forget the summer weather? 120F easy every day for months; you have no reason to leave your a/c during the day. It's miserable! Decent health care? HAHA! Wanna find it? Take a 100 mile or so roadtrip to Las Vegas! My brother was in an accident on his motorcycle there, and they had to airlift him to Vegas! My mother had some medical issues that stumped the medical community of BHC and she FINALLY got a Vegas doctor to diagnose and treat. Amazing! I think maybe the heat fries people's brains here. If you want to move here, DON'T! If you do, stay away from the Read More
