Gilbert, Arizona is a suburb located southeast of Phoenix. It has been recognized as one of the fastest growing cities in the United States, and is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, low crime rates, and strong sense of community. However, like any other place, it also has its own unique set of pros and cons. In this summary, we will take a look at some user reviews about living in Gilbert, Arizona and gain insights into the experiences of those who have actually lived there.
From personal experiences, there are many things that I enjoy in Gilbert, AZ. First and foremost, it is known for its safe and friendly environment. Crime rates are low and people are generally welcoming and helpful. The city is also well-planned and has a variety of amenities such as parks, restaurants, and shopping centers. The weather is mostly sunny and warm, making it perfect for outdoor activities all year round. However, the cost of living can be quite high, especially in terms of housing and property taxes. Also, the traffic can get hectic during rush hour. – Sarah M.
My husband and I moved to Gilbert, AZ for his job and we absolutely love it here. We have two young kids and this place is just perfect for raising a family. Our neighborhood is quiet and safe, and there are plenty of good schools in the area. The community is very close-knit and we have made many friends since moving here. The only downside for us is the lack of diversity, but overall, we couldn't be happier living in Gilbert. – Amanda J.
I have lived in Gilbert, AZ for almost 10 years now and I have seen it change a lot. While it is still a great place to live, it has certainly become more crowded and expensive. The traffic has also gotten much worse as the population has increased. However, the city has done a good job of keeping up with the growth by building new infrastructure and amenities. There are also plenty of job opportunities here, which is a big plus. – Jason P.
I had high expectations for Gilbert, AZ when I moved here, but unfortunately, I have been disappointed. While it is a relatively safe and well-maintained city, I find it to be too cookie-cutter and lacking in character. The restaurant and entertainment options are limited and there is not much to do here for young adults. Also, the cost of living keeps increasing, making it difficult for lower-income families to afford to live here. – Maria K.

Lack of Public Transportation - 6/6/2007
I love where I live. I love the neighborhood and the proximity to the things I need. However, I don't love the fact that my job is 20 miles away and it takes 45 minutes to get there. They are putting a light rail system in, but it won't help me at all. I wish there were better means of public transportation that flow throughout the Phoenix metro

Lack of Vision - 5/21/2007
Lived in Gilbert most of my life. Town government here is dominated by land owners and real estate developers with little or no vision for long range. Consequently, Gilbert has exploded from a tiny town of 10000 to 200000+ in just a couple of decades, with no real quality of life decisions being made. If you want to know what Gilbert will look like in ten or fifteen years, look north to Mesa. Another once charming and beautiful community that has fallen to the ravages of unbridled growth and development and that is nearly bankrupt due to lack of ability to supply adequate essential services.

Gilbert is ever-growing - 3/9/2007
While Gilbert may not boast the "urban" lifestyle presented by Phoenix/Scottsdale, it's an amazing place to live. Shopping and restaurants within minutes of every home. The town is clean, safe and still growing. Property continues to appreciate and the people are so friendly. While the population is nearing 200,000 residents, it's amazing how Gilbert still maintains a bit of small-town feel. You won't be able to go to the theatre or a nightclub without a 25+ mile commute... but, if you really want to go out, there are plenty of bar/pubs with a great vibe. Gilbert is a place even a recent college grad might want to live.... and it's the place I dream of returning to when it comes time to raise a

Lacking in culture - 7/12/2006
The Phoenix metro area is without culture. Obviously there is a huge mexican population, however, there is not much in the way of other cultures represented. There are outdoor activities such as hiking, biking and camping, but the weather makes it difficult to be outside in the summer. It is a very cookie cutter spread out town. It is lacking originality and tradition as so many people are transplants. The school systems are mediocre at best and the city is not really prepared for the influx of people that have come because of the housing boom (that has now gone bust). It really is still a town that has that 'wild wild west' feel from the government to many of the

Gilbert/Phoenix climate info - 6/19/2006
Very hot for 6 months of the year, moderate to hot the other 6 months. Because of the new construction and tons of concrete, Phoenix metro does not cool down at night. Be prepared for hot summer nights. You get used to it after a while. Winters are surprisingly cold at

Gilbert is a great place to raise a family. - 5/26/2006
We moved here almost nine years ago after a job relocation and absolutely love living here. We've lived all over the US, from big cities to rural areas, I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be. Gilbert is very family orientated, the schools are great and there is plenty of shopping nearby. The streets, parks and neighborhoods are all clean and well maintained. I'm not sure where the person who has never stepped foot in Gilbert got his info, but there is freeway access in Gilbert (the 202 will get you to all major freeways in the Phoenix area) and due to all the growth in Gilbert there is very little farmland left. It's not a place to go if you are looking for strip clubs or the bar scene, but we've got everything else you could ever want in a family friendly

Gilbert, a Phoenix Suburb - 3/26/2006
I've lived in the Phoenix area for 20 years and I've never set foot in Gilbert. So, why would I write a response? Because Gilbert isn't a place to go to. Gilbert wasn't even on the map until recently. It's nothing but former farms and agricultural land. As Phoenix expands to and beyond the horizons, suburbs like this that serve no purpose but to create sprawl are created. If you want anything that Phoenix offers and want to live in or near Gilbert, expect an hour drive just to get into town. Otherwise, plan on living in an endless flat sea of suburbia along with a million others. Safe? Probably. New? You betcha. Fun? Is your backyard fun?, because that's all you'll encounter, along with a few scorpions. Jobs? Yes, but they're suburban "mall" jobs. If you're looking to make money your commute to Tempe, Scottsdale and Phoenix will be stressful, making you question why you moved so far away from the
