Great Town as a Setting For Crime Thriller! - 6/15/2021
The quiet little community of Sahuarita is the setting for a new book to hit the markets in the fall of 2021 titled, Stored "A Serial Killers First-Class Ticket to Hell!" It’s a story about a native American (Atsidi: Navajo for The Hammer) that is an aircraft mechanic/child’s storybook writer/serial killer that stores his victims in an old, obsolete 747 that sits in the desert boneyard of Pinal Airpark in Tucson. Wonderful community - 5/5/2021
We decided on Green Valley for retirement after deciding against Las Vegas, northern AZ, and other 55 and over communities like Saddlebrooke and Quail Creek primarily because of the small, slow paced, friendly, inclusiveness, largest opportunity of activities and facilities, and best value we found. With 59 HOA communities, we were lucky to find one with a pool and spa 1/2 block away where monthly potlucks with local musicians welcome neighbors. Newcomers are introduced and come from Minnesota, Indiana, Montana, California, Colorado, Michigan, Texas. At ago 69 I have never lived in such a friendly place! Complete stranger wave and smile when passing. Walmart staff actually walked with me to find two items. VA Clinic is in a newly remodeled office and the hospital is 20 minutes away. We are glad we kept our house 2/2020-3/2021 during the pandemic while we sheltered in place out of state because it’s beautiful and the neighborhood is perfect. Green Valley, AZ... Not all it’s cracked up to be - 9/28/2020
My wife and I have lived here since 2016. Since GV is populated with oldsters we had thought it would be a welcoming community. Thinking neighbors would bring over dinner considering we’d not unpacked yet. Not on your life. The first visitor was from the HOA wanting money and sign these papers. Also told us about all of the misguided neighbors who’d painted their home an “unapproved” color or had “too many” yard sales...
People do not acknowledge you, preferring to turn their nose up at you instead. A local doctor put it this way, “Most folks living in GV used to be somebody, problem is they still think of themselves in that way thus you’re looked down upon”...
The medical care in GV as well as Tucson is very poor, doctors offices not following Federal guidelines on Medicare etc. preferring to “shoot from the hip” as far as how things are done. Customer service is not a priority by any means...

Didn't leave until life forced me - 7/1/2020
Loved Green Valley and only left because my husband died and I had to move to Texas to be near my daughter. It is beautiful, clean, friendly and has some excellent doctors. Grocery stores at both ends of town and plenty of restaurants. Be sure to check out the White Elephant for your donations. I have a picture of the view across from my balcony pinned to the wall over my computer so I can see something beautiful, not rooftops in Corpus

GVR is ruining Green Valley - 8/2/2018
I like everything about Green Valley except for GVR. Sure, they offer a big bang for your buck but according to a 2018 membership survey Green Valley Recreation was next to last for the reason anyone moved here. A lot of snow birds like GVR and tout it way beyond what its really like. Full time home owners seldom if ever use the facilities because of all the rules and regulations. Hardly anything

Green Valley thrives on activity and participation. If anyone says they're bored, then they're not reading the paper or sticking their head outside. In a community of 25,000, there are 13 recreation centers and pools maintained by the Green Valley Recreation Association (GVR), plus many others operated by non-age restricted HOAs. The GVR offers more than 500 workshops, classes, clubs, lectures and concerts; branches of Arizona community colleges and universities have similar offerings. A separate arts organiation also has plays and concerts for the public. Some events are free; others are offered at much lower prices than you will find in large cities. And the quality is outstanding! For athletics, there are seven golf courses, and in March, the area sponsors "Senior Games"--short and long races (foot and bike), swimming competitions, table tennis, and many more. Neighborhood friendliness - 3/13/2008
Because so many people who move here are looking to retire or simplify their life the community is made up of people who have relocated here from other states and Canada. We found this community made up of very friendly people from all walks of life. For the first time in several years we actually "know" all of our neighbors and socialize with them often.
