Wellton, Arizona is a small town located in Yuma County. It is known for its rural atmosphere and peaceful lifestyle. The town offers a variety of activities for visitors to enjoy such as golfing at the Wellton-Mohawk Golf Club, fishing along the Colorado River, camping at Picacho State Park, bird-watching at Imperial National Wildlife Refuge and relaxing in local parks. There are also several unique attractions such as the Sand House Museum which preserves artifacts from early homesteaders.

So many flies.
Endless, relentless flies.

I moved to Wellton in March of 2020, just in time for the pandemic. If there were no flies, the top complaint would be the heat. It is oppressive. I hate it. Dry, intense heat feels less disgusting than humid, intense heat at the same temperature, but it also dries and cracks skin to an extreme I've never experienced before. I can rip little chunks of dry skin from several areas if I try. But there ARE flies, at least in the spring and summer. Every time I try to relax outside, I end up coming in early, frustrated because of the flies. Word around town is that the local cattle feedlot attracts them.
Wellton itself, as a town, seems fine, except for the plethora of bareface Covidiots. In lines and behind the counters, the lack of masks during the current height of the pandemic really highlights the lack of adequate local education.
