Humid!! - 6/20/2015
I have been a resident in Conway most of my life. Conway is a nice college town. The humidity can be really intense at times. Summers can be quite miserable with high humidity and the lack of pubic pools. The winter season is often unpredictable. Most winters we don't have much snowfall but there are times that we do. And when we have an accumulation of snow or ice, the schools and many businesses pretty much shut down.  Read More

Housing is Affordable; watch out for personal prop - 9/4/2014
We moved to Conway from the Dallas, Texas area in 2010. Housing is more affordable here in Conway due to the dramatically lower real estate taxes. There are many more locations with trees, and some hilly areas provide views of the mountains, something that is tough to find in the flat prairie land of Dallas. However, there is a state income tax, and personal property taxes on your vehicles. For our two cars, one 3 years old and the other 2, each year we pay about $500-600. Sales tax on take-out and restaurant food is over 10%. Groceries are taxed as well. Gasoline is lower than most of the nation and everything else is probably comparable. We do have to travel to Little Rock (about 1/2 hour away) to go to a large mall, so that adds to the cost of shopping at times. However, being the home to three colleges/universities, there is a lot of growth and we have basics like Kroger, WalMart, Target, Home Depot, Lowe's, Chili's, TFIFridays, etc. Overall, it has been less expensive Read More

City of Colleges - 1/15/2010

Conway is the Best - 1/15/2008
I have live in quite a few places--California, Boise, Idaho, Honolulu, Minnesota, and presently Madison, Wisconsin. By far, I believe that Conway was the best place I ever lived. My experience in the city was nothing short of excellent. As a Californian, and African-American professional, I heard a lot of negative things from my parents who grew up in Arkansas. However, when attended Univ of Central Arkansas in 2001,I found the community to be extremely friendly from people at school, shopkeepers, my neighbors in my apartment complex, etc. The west end of Conway, where I lived, has beautiful and modern brick homes. People are more clean cut in Conway, versus the folks here in the midwest who have the nerve to joke about Arkansas. One thing I enjoyed about Conway was the low cost of living. As one poster mentioned, Conway Corporation is an excellent low cost city owned utilty provider. The biggest drawback of Conway was that jobs outside of the university, which is a major employer, Read More

Conway Meets Retirement Expectations - 7/28/2007
My husband and I just moved to Conway in April 2007. We have been very impressed with Conway Corporation, the city-owned utility. They have provided excellent service and were very responsive when we had trouble with our Internet. An employee even dropped by at a later date to see that everything was working well. We also have had occasion to use the doctors here already and have found them to be well-trained and caring. We chose Conway as our retirement home, and it is living up to our expectations in every Read More

Conway, AR - 7/17/2007
Compare Conway to cities in the south from the 35k-80k population and it is hard to beat. It is a growing city with three colleges and all that they provide. It is quickly becoming a regional retail destination. The downtown looks light years better than it did 6 years ago. In the last 12 months the city has bought almost 100 acres of new park land. The city has also pledged to spend approximately $50 million on parks over the next 20 years.

It does not have the cultural amenities or energy of a city of 250k-500k. You have to drive a whopping 25 minutes to get Read More

unfriendly, USA - 6/19/2007
this place is only interested in two things: 1) where you go to church and 2) how much money you have. the people here are greedy, unfriendly, and selfish. There are also many rednecks in addition to the self-righteous religious people. the preachers damned the owners of the few restaurants you can get a glass of wine, yet they weigh 400 pounds. nothing but hypocrites here. stay away. Little Rock is much Read More

Awful city. - 9/15/2006
Conway, Arkasnas is the 8th ring of hell. Conway is a cultureless, dead city. There are no jobs or any activities here. All we have is about 20 fast food restaurants and two movie theaters. THATS IT. Don't make the mistake of moving to this Read More
