Sausalito is a gorgeous town of 7,000 people right on the bay. It's very community oriented with a nice mix of the mega rich and boat people. There are parks, great restaurants and lots and lots of tourists.

Much of the time we have SF weather, fog, wind and cold.

There are fun street fairs, a weekly farmers market in the summer, parades and even a health food store.

People are friendly. The cost of living is very high. About $1200 - $1500 for a studio apartment with a view of the bay.

Parking is easy here. Our library is fantastic. Not a whole lot of nightlife but some live music.

If it weren't for the weather I'd live here Read More

Sausalito has been for me a kind of roller coaster of a town...it is quiet and conveniently located being 10 minutes from SF but:
Real estate is outrageously expensive, somehow ridiculous!
I have seen houses for sale in the 1 million $$$ that looked like a shack!!!!!
Rental is also very high and 1 or 2 bedroom apartments will run you $1500 and up...
The actual downtown is pretty boring, very touristy and devoid of great restaurants.
You can find yourself alone on the streets around 9pm without seeing a soul at large, pretty depressing if you ask me.
And then last,it is Marin county and the people here are, well typical Marin county people...they walk around like they have something .. their .....,not sure why but that's the way they are.
The quiet part of the street I live on is probably the best part of living here.
So to resume, come here for the environment but don't expect to find warm and charismatic people, you'll be disappointed!Read More

It is paradise! But ahh...also very expensive to live here. If you can find a condo under $500K you are lucky...and it is after all, a condo, complete with monthly condo fee that goes up and up. Would like to leave, but where else does paradise Read More
