Best place to live - 5/6/2016
I have owned a home in Aptos for 10 years and cannot thing of anywhere else I would rather live. I have lived in San Diego, Orange County, Half Moon Bay, and other California communities near the beach. I have visited many States. There is nowhere with the natural beauty of the redwood forest flowing to the ocean, spectacular beaches, little village communities with the character that comes through not having a proliferation of chains and franchises, good shopping, excellent grocery stores, lots of movie theaters including many art screens, an active live music scene, and a very lively downtown close by in Santa Cruz. The schools are good, the crime is quite low, the neighborhoods are well planned and scenic, there are many excellent restaurants, and top rate resorts to put up your guests. For the child in everyone, there is the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, well maintained and safe. Heaven on Earth - 4/1/2015
Well, Aptos is in Santa Cruz County, California. I love the entire county of Santa Cruz. The weather is fantastic. We have both the beautiful Monterey Bay with lots of whales, dolphins, sea otters, and a host of other wild life! It's a place where the largest trees live (Redwoods, Sequoias, Eucalyptus) and meet the sea. The weather is sunny 90 percent of the year. The temperature ranges from anywhere between 60-75 degrees daily. Everyone knows to where layers here. Oh, and we do get changes of seasons. We have trees that turn colors in the fall and shed leaves in the winter. Lots of flowering trees and bushes that bloom all year. Although it is expensive to live here, it is so worth it. This place booms with artists of all types. Theater, music, dance, and some of the best restaurants in the country. It's also a surfers delight here. Jack O'Neil, the creator of the wet suit lives here. If there is a heaven on earth, I am sure I found it! Read More

Beautiful Place To Live - 2/28/2011
We've lived in Aptos/Rio Del Mar for many years and it's a very lovely, peaceful village far from the rat race . The views of the ocean are stunning and the shopping in Aptos is limited but excellent and unique. There are several upscale European boutiques with interesting clothes...not at all stuffy. Restaurants in the old village such as Cafe Sparrow are truly excellent, as is Bittersweet Bistro. The Blues Festival is fabulous. We also love the old pub in the village. It feels like we live in a mixture of of an old English village in California, which for us is perfect! It's not cheap to live here, but as a result our neighbors are interesting working professionals, university professors, world travelers and local business owners. It's a very special community of thriving individuals, couples and families with very little crime. A great place to raise a family, we spend most weekends at the beach or hiking in the Read More
