Great for some, Not for others - 11/5/2023
Moved to Claremont 4 years ago when I was 46. Love the beauty of the small town (judging by SoCal standards, not beautiful and green the way other states are….there is a permanent drought here, so not lots of greenery. Not sure why it’s dubbed “the city of trees” when there aren’t many.) If you love small towns and don’t mind being really far away from the city, AND you have enough money for the outrageous cost of housing, Claremont has a lot going for it. My children like the schools. The high school, especially, is very safe and has fantastic teachers. The downtown is called “The Village” and is where we have a house. Being from a major city, we really wanted a walkable area. There are great bars & restaurants & the colleges always have classical music performances & art shows. The Village hosts a wine/art walk, several outdoor concerts in 5 areas around town every Friday evening. We lost our amazing record store, but still have our quaint movie theater showing new and classic

Downtown has an eastern college feel - 6/14/2012
I go to downtown every weekend and it has an eastern college feel where it is accepted by the college students to be eccentric. Friday nights have a numerous bands on the streets. In winter, you can see the snow caps of the local mountains and in the fall, the trees turn color just like back east.
