What BestPlaces Users Say about Corona

Corona, California is a city located in Riverside County with a population of over 160,000 residents. It is known for its warm climate, parks, and close proximity to major cities like Los Angeles and San Diego. However, like any place, it has its pros and cons. According to data from BestPlaces, the cost of living in Corona is higher than the national average, with housing being the biggest contributor. In this context, let's take a look at what people have to say about living in Corona through various user reviews on BestPlaces.

Some user reviews on BestPlaces mention the high cost of living in Corona, including James who says, "Corona is a beautiful town but the cost of living is ridiculously high for what you get." Another user, Jessica, echoes this sentiment by stating, "The cost of living is a bit high, especially when it comes to housing. It's difficult to find affordable options." On the other hand, some users like Maria appreciate the amenities the city has to offer, saying "The cost of living may be high but you get what you pay for. There are plenty of parks, restaurants, and activities for families to enjoy."

Traffic is also a common theme in the user reviews, with different experiences being shared. For example, John mentions, "The traffic is unbearable during rush hour. It can easily take an hour to go a few miles." However, William shares a different perspective, saying "The traffic is not too bad compared to other cities in Southern California. Plus, there are plenty of alternate routes to avoid the main highways."

Safety is another aspect that is mentioned in the user reviews. While some people like Rachel feel safe living in Corona, stating "I've lived here for years and have never felt unsafe," others like Sarah have a different experience, saying "The crime rate is high, and I've had multiple incidents of theft and vandalism in my neighborhood."

Overall, the user reviews on BestPlaces paint a mixed picture of living in Corona. While some appreciate the amenities and pleasant climate, others are put off by the high cost of living and traffic. It's clear that there are both positive and negative aspects to living in Corona, and ultimately, individual experiences may vary.

Corona the gate way to the good life! - 2/26/2008
A job promotion brought me and my family from Northern California to Corona 22 years ago. Prior to that time I had never heard of this city. We live on a quiet cul-de-sacs near Grand Avenuse in a neighborhood with a rich history. When you come home after a hard day at work and a long commute you need a nice quiet and relaxing city that is easy to drive through even with detours and road construction.

Oh...you want to spend the morning at the beach take the 91 West to the Express Lanes or the Toll Road. You need to fly to New York on a business trip take the 15 North to the Ontario International Airport. If your wife drives you to the Airport she can always take some time to shop at the Ontario Mills..probably the largest Outlet Center around. Did you say you wanted to go Hot Air Balloon riding and wine tasting. You need to take the 15 South to Temecula. Gambling? You can go 15 South to an Indian Reservation or 15 North toward Las Vegas! You can also take the 91 Read More

Corona is not your quaint little town - 8/29/2007
Corona is growing fast and bursting at the seams. What was once a city inside of a Circle Drive, is now an old downtown that has little if any foot traffic and cultural destinations. The city outside the circle is becoming little more than an enormous Read More

Corona is ok - 7/22/2007
Like all places Corona has positive and negatives and whether or not you will like the place depends on what you’re looking for.

The housing, while expensive, is moderately priced based on Southern California standards and is much better than neighboring Orange County. Most of the newer areas were built within the last 20 years so a lot of areas are clean and in good shape. It seems to be a family oriented city with lots of nice subdivisions, all done in the California style. There’s quite a few chain stores and restaurants close by so it’s the typical CA metropolis suburb. The city is mostly on the grid system so it’s easy to navigate your way around. The view of the mountains is really nice and you can get to Palm Springs, Vegas, etc. easier than you can other areas around L.A. Neighboring Riverside has some additional attractions.

The main negative is that the air quality there is terrible, even by L.A. standards. Do your research on air quality Read More

Property Crime. - 6/29/2007
Lived there for 18 months. Car was broken into twice, one was an attempted theft. Neighbor's house was broken into. Another neighbor had her garage spray painted. Lots of vandalism in general. All this in one of the "nice" neighborhoods. It's really unfortunate because there are so many nice people there. A lot of the "nicer homes" are located near lower income areas...where I'm sure all my stereo equipment ended up :( Traffic is ridiculous and the 91 freeway is a dead stop most of the time. 100+ temps in the summer. My suggestion - move as close to the 241 Toll-Road as possible, and further away from the Freeway. Get alarms on EVERYTHING...home and car. Don't worry about violent crimes, but there are A LOT of trouble-making teenagers who would love to steal your stuff! Look at the crime stats...relatively low violent crime, and VERY high property crime. All-in-all, I'm glad I Read More

The Perfect neighborhood - 6/14/2006
We have been living in Corona for about 6 months and my family loves it. It's up in the hills where the traffic is almost nothing specially since we live in a culder sack. The homes are all in excellent conditions and the noise levels are minimal. I recommend the area. Read More

Cost of Living-Housing in Corona, CA - 5/17/2006
High rising prices of homes are driving out residents in this area. A lot of OC (Orange County) families have moved into this area because of the easy commute to the OC and the cheaper housing costs, though still quite high compared to the rest of the US. The average 3 bedroom, two bath home here costs about $350,000 and the newer the more Read More
