Duarte is a great place to live - 2/5/2018
For some reason Duarte gets a bad rap for being gang infested etc. I was born and raised here and I have always felt safe. There are bad apples in every city but Duarte is clean, well maintained, has great restaurants, schools have improved since I attended has great churches and lots of community events. The prices of homes have gone up but it is a very quaint little city with a city bus system and metro station. I'd highly recommend living Read More

Duarte is horrible - 1/11/2010
Been living here for over 40 years and gang members took over, many shootings and crime makes you not want to leave your home. City has 3 police patrol cars and they patrol the areas of the higher priced homes. Parks are gang hangouts and there are sirens and police helicopters every night if you live below huntington dr....even above your cars and homes get robbed.
The city does very little to change things as long as their homes are safe.
Too bad Duarte is a little town full of young gangbangers that shoot at anyone and they get away with it because under 18.

Nice Place to Live - 4/11/2007
We lived in Duarte for around 3 years in the late 90's. It was nice because of the jogging paths and trails for horses. It's a very quiet community, has a few nice restaurants and bars. Actually if you take Huntington Drive down a few miles, you have a plethora of clubs, restaurants and entertainment in Arcadia plus the Santa Anita Race Track. We lived in the hills right next to the "D" sign in the foothills. The views were Read More

If you hate the wind in Southern Ca., this could b - 11/29/2006
Duarte is a very nice community in the San Gabriel Valley to the East of Los Angeles. Called the city of Health due to it being home of the City of Hope Cancer center. The city is filled with many parks and recreational trails for walking, biking and more. The weather has advantages if you are someone who does not enjoy the high winds you can experience else in So. Ca.. Have enjoyed many comfortable nights sitting on my patio, then to come in and turn on the news to find the high winds blowing within a few miles of here. The city lies at the foot hills of the San Gabriel Mountains giving a nice Read More

SoCal stinks! - 10/2/2006
I have to make a short comment about where I live, huh? Southern California is rotten. Beyond that, I could go on for hours. I've lived here all my life and there is a lot to like about it, but for me this state is beyond the point of no return. Real estate is insane, smog is the worst in the country, traffic is horrible, the state budget has $5bn structural deficit, and we've been overrun by illegal aliens. I'm looking for someplace to escape Read More
