What BestPlaces Users Say about Folsom

Folsom, California is a small city situated in Sacramento County. Known for its historic charm, diverse community, and close proximity to outdoor recreational opportunities, Folsom has become a popular place to live for families and professionals alike. However, as with any city, there are mixed opinions on what it's like to actually live there. Here are some user reviews from BestPlaces.net that highlight the pros and cons of living in Folsom.

1. "Folsom is a great place to call home. The community is very welcoming and there is a strong sense of camaraderie among the residents. The schools are top-rated and there are plenty of parks and outdoor spaces for families to enjoy. I've been living here for 10 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else!" - Sarah H.

2. "As much as I love Folsom's quaint downtown and beautiful nature trails, the cost of living is just too high. The housing market is insane and it's nearly impossible to find affordable rent. It's a shame because I really do enjoy the city, but I'm being forced to consider moving elsewhere." - Mark R.

3. "I moved to Folsom for work and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The commute to Sacramento is not bad at all and the job opportunities are plentiful. There are also a lot of fun events and festivals throughout the year. The only downside is the traffic can get pretty bad during rush hour." - Emily T.

4. "I've lived in Folsom my whole life and I have to say, it's gotten a lot more crowded and expensive over the years. The influx of new residents has led to more traffic and longer wait times at restaurants and stores. It's still a nice place to live, but I do miss the small town feel it used to have." - Mike D.

As evident from these user reviews, Folsom has a lot to offer but it also has its drawbacks. The strong sense of community, great schools, and proximity to outdoor activities are praised by many, while the high cost of living and traffic are common concerns among residents. Ultimately, the decision to live in Folsom will depend on individual preferences and priorities.

Mild winters; few frost warnings, fewer freezes. Most rain from January to March; otherwise dry with virtually no rain from May to November. HOT in the summer, 100+ degrees for days at a time. Can also tend to be humid. Worst problem is poor air quality, with more and more "Spare the Air" days every year, during which people are asked not to drive unless necessary and young children, the elderly, and people with respiratory problems are encouraged to stay indoors. Not a place for anyone with asthma, emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis, or other serious, chronic respiratory Read More

TWO THUMBS UP! - 1/1/2007
I have lived in Folsom for 3+ years, but have been coming to Folsom for shopping and entertainment for 10 years. Here are some facts that I have experienced living in Folsom:
- It's a very clean town and a large majority of the town is new and fresh
- Folsom has a great "old town" that is closed down for traffic several times throughout the year for events such as the weekly Farmer's Market, Folsom Live that features about 10 bands and other entertainment, etc.
- Folsom has a lot of great restaurants - any type of food you could want.
- Great shopping! It also has outlet stores, a Costco and Sam's, and most major stores.
- Folsom hosts many annual events such as the Folsom Rodeo, a Renaissance Faire, a Gourd Festival, etc. It seems like there's always something going on.
- For those who are into outdoor activities, Folsom has miles and miles of great hiking and cycling trails, Folsom Lake, the American River, Lake Natomas, and has easy and quick Read More

Nice place to live.... - 10/3/2006
I lived in Folsom for about a year probably one of the best places I have lived, I also lived in towns close by for about 5 years.
Folsom is great, it has some wonderful homes, nice shopping centers and is close to everything. You can drive to Lake Tahoe in about an hour or go shopping in some great malls within 30 minutes, or go to a concert in Sacramento in about 40 minutes. It has a very cute and active downtown and always has something going on.
The only downside is the traffic and it gets HOT in the summer but other than that no Read More
